Really makes me sad that the OP has all of these unused, unwanted toys lying all about, but has yet to mention donating them to a good cause..

We do what any good entrepreneur does. We sell them on Craigslist and eBay. DD gets the proceeds put into her UGMA.

Actually, I even said I do not take notes on posters ("I am not one to take notes on posters, but you post such outlandish stuff I can't help but remember it") andsimply remembered your posts becuase they are so over the top. Sorry I remembered the amount of wine incorrectly. I know that I, someone who thinks the US drinking age is a mistake and awlways offers her kids a sip or small glass of the adult beverage being consumed, and has a DD13 who does drink a small glass of wine at dinner once in a while, and is really quiet accepting ofserving alcohol at meals to minors came awa yfrom that thread thinking you seemed to waaaaay past me on the liberal scale ofhta issue and I am generally all the way over into liberal landcompared to most.

I don't care for the US age limit to drink either. I had my first sip of beer when I was in middle school.

I've only been to a friend of mine's Christmas party where they note "no gifts, please" in their invites. But then they're adults and don't lack for anything.

I can tell you that no man in my community refers to their SO as a DP. Maybe it is a regional thing.

And they get them. We do our part donation wise through our work with Meals on Wheels. Giving and donating is a very personal thing. We also give a gift through Heifer.org and help another family but I certainly do not need to justify how we earn our living or how we choose to donate and how much or how little to you or anyone else. Her unused gifts and unloved toys are in fact sold. We do not regift which many people have posted they have done. The money goes into DD's UGMA where she can use it how she chooses when she becomes of age.

If you want to attack a person because they sell their unloved toys on eBay, then you better start with just about everyone on DIS who has ever sold something online. We are successful because we have multiple streams of income...from DPs dance work, to my work, to investments. We truly can live like no one else because for so long we did live like no one else.

BUT - then there are holidays OP refers to where DD is told to make a "list" - of items which she will never be able to have/use/or play with.. Then these items are "sold" - because it's the American way.. So what does OP have her put on the list? The hottest, most expensive items that will bring in the most money when OP turns around and sells them??

I'm so confused by all of this I don't know if I'm coming or going.. But - it's the style that we all became accumstomed to before the reinvention, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised..

No one has to TELL a child to make a list for the December holidays we refer to as Festivus. It comes very naturally. DP and I use it to make her purchases. We tell family please no gifts, but they give them anyway. DP and I did not get DD everything on her list.

For those just joining us, this is in addition to a trip to Switzerland to visit ToC's leased cow and collect the cheese they get as a part of the cow package.

So are you working on getting rid of the stuff that's been lying around since Festivas '08? Care to share with us what you've got to sell? I know I, for one, am very curious to hear what kinds of toys and other gifts your DD gets. Something tells me her gifts are very unique.
