Anyone know why my lower arms and lower legs (below the knees) keep falling asleep? Is that a syptom of something more serious?

I have been sitting more at the computer lately and been sitting to paint now that my last is in Kindergarden.

I've not been to the doctor yet but I have had three medical massages so far.

Any thoughts? I'm getting nervous about it.

Thanks!

Well I saw a commiceral on Tv. for that..But the name of the disorder is truley slipping my mind. Maybe call your doctor and ask??

About 3 months ago, my right arm kept getting that pins and needles falling asleep feeling. After an MRI on my spine and a visit to an orthopedic surgeon he concluded it was a disk compression problem.

hi,
how old are you?you can pm me the answer.have any blood pressure problems?any other symptons?could just be bad circulation, some times you might need a blood thinner.is it only when sitting or any time?

My wrist/fingers started doing that last fall. I went to dr and they said I have minor carpal tunnel issues. I have no clue about your legs though ... good luck! :) keep us posted!

Could be lots of things, but my MS had similar early symptoms. Definitely go get checked out, it will put your mind at rest. :)

Mine always does that when I least expect it, it is caused by my MS, have it checked

I made an appointment for monday to see my doctor. I'm really nervous. I am 33 and in good health. We do not have MS in our family. I have checked on the internet and numbness or tingling is usually the first symptom of MS. I don't know what to think.

Thanks for you posts and I will update here.

dont panic yet! it is often poor circulation which can be caused by lots of very minor issues.

Mine do it and are getting worse and it is just tendinitis. Uncomfortable but at least it is not life threatening. Debby

Do you drink a lot of diet products that contain aspartame? People who are sensitive to aspartame tend to have symptoms that mimic diabetes, MS and other autoimmune disorders. http://www.relfe.com/Aspartame_92.html If you use aspartame, you may want to try going off all diet products for a week long trial and see what happens.

Ditto. Any prolonged numbness or tingling should be checked out.

My daughter emailed me yesterday saying she was having similar symptoms with her hands and arms. She is twitching and getting tingly feelings and sometimes cannot grab onto items.

She had researched the symptoms on the internet and now is certain she has MS.

I told her not to panic, but that it may be carpal tunnel as she works on the computer 8 hours straight, then continues at night for her college classes. Hopefully I am right. She is going to the doctor next week.

If I stand in one place for more than 10 mins. my legs will fall asleep. This is a side effect of some medication that I'm on. My hands tingle also. Don't know if you take anything.

Wow! Lots of possible things looking at what people have posted. Your best bet is talk to your doctor.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone for your posts!

I have researched the nutrasweet thing a bit and I am going to lay off all diet products- hopefully forever. When you think of the damage that you could be causing to your body it's scary.

I do have a doc appoinment on Monday.

I was twitching about 6 months ago but I'm not sure it is related. I have no other medical problems that I know of so this is just coming from no where. I am one of the healthiest people you could meet. I never have had anything like this. I am not experiencing numbness or clumsiness or some of the other more common syptoms of MS so I'm hoping that's not it.

After doing a bit of research about MS I am relieved to know that most people go on to live normal, long lives. I know this is not always the case but 85% have this less severe form of MS. It looks livable although I don't want it of course!

I hope I have good news to post Wed.

Thanks a million!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 :goodvibes

I'd also make an appointment to the chiropractor if I were you. Even if your doctor gives you a diagnosis of something that isn't related to your back, it's worth checking out.

I've been seeing a massage therapist for a couple of weeks over this. I'm up for anything. Thanks for the advice.
