It says "out of memory loading member 25 of PLAYER-CAST 40, even after purging all purgeable castmembers" I get this atleast 2 or 3 times a day playing VMK. Is there anything I can do so this doesn't happend to me again, everytime it happens it closes out my window.

Thanks

I get that every day to. It's because (i think) your memory is low. Just restart and you'll be able to get back on. You may want to ask someone who is good with computers how to stop it.

I get the same thing, way too often. It makes me wonder, because if it was just the memory being low on my computer that usually pops up and tells me my virtual memory is low....but this says "purgable castmembers" and seems like that is on the VMK end. Of course, I could be wrong, lol. I also sometimes get a similar error message, that says something like "out of memory after loading a sprite." :confused3

I get that pop up also, but much less often then the castmember error.
I clear out all my cookies and all the programs I don't use and then I'm fine for a few months until another low memory pop up.

it isnt a virtual memory error, it is a video memory/shockwave error

I've gotten that type of message a few times, I think always when doing a lot of dark rides or on ride-a-thon days. Not sure what the difference is, but cleaning out the temp files and rebooting the computer works well for me.

What I don't like is the access errors I get sometimes in mansion game or JC game. I feel like I clicked on an edge somewhere and they thought I was trying to get in a back door or something, preventing my access, lol.

I'll have to look into that video card thing doc. :thumbsup2

I get this error all the time. For me it seems to happen most often when I have signed on and off a few of characters during my credit run. Relading the page (F11) does not seem to work for me. I find that closing the internet window and restarting vmk works. :wizard:

Of course, getting rid of unnecessary temp files and cookies is always a good idea also.

Me too, Pixie! I always get it lately because my characters hang out in VMK after I have logged them off. By the time I get to my fifth (and last) clone during credit runs I get the "purge error". Bob (CLOutOfMyMind) has told me to close out IE and restart.

BTW, since this bug with characters not really logging off has started, I send each of mine to their own locked rooms, so I don't accidentally get banned by being someplace I don't know about, lol. Yavn says to use the "yes, I want to log out thingy, but that does not get rid of your characters. They still stay on long after you have logged them out.:confused3

i dont get that pop up. But from a little icon at the bottom right of my screen it said my virtual memory on my laptop was too low. And then it broke. WEIRd.

Edit : Chedstro, this is what i do. I bring all mules to my room. And then boot them. Then use the exit button on each.

buy a better video card and more ram

Not really true. I have a top-of-the-line media PC with a very very good graphics card as well ridiculous amount of memory and still had the issue.

When I began using Trend Micro instead of Symantec for anti-virus software on my home PC, it stopped. I have not had that error in a while now and I run both PAL and VMK at the same time.

My work PC has always had Trend and I have never had that issue on it either. It has a cruddy graphics card and nowhere near the memory my home PC does.

Running other apps that are memory hogs are the true contributors. It will seriously slow your PC down. It is not necessarily the virus software, the graphics card, memory, etc...but apps are a large contributor in addition to the build of the PC. (hardware)

Of course that is the case. I have posted numerous times on this board on how bad Norton/Macafee are in terms of chewing up your memory, but for some of these kids, thats not a choice they can make, but they CAN coax a parent into getting more ram. Sadly, too many people think that Norton is the "best" just because it came with thier PC. Norton is, in fact, the single WORST mass marketed anti-virus software. It rarely catches viruses and it chews up, easily, 1/3 of your RAM and VM. I never get the error at home, but I do at work when using multiple charachters without closing the windows - and I have a crappy vid card and only a gig of ram. at home I have a 512 Nvidia GeForce and 4 gig of ram. (both machines are XP, I wouldnt put Vista on my Machines unless Microsoft was willing to pay me 2 years salary.
