Why do I Keep Burning it ??

I've tried that too.. We have the same thing.. Small Bag.. Big Bag.. still burns :confused3 Maybe it is my microwave??

DH and I have had this happening to us for about a month now. It's driving me crazy! We have the POP button - doesn't work. I was putting it on 2 min, and that worked for about a week....now it's burning again!

I feel your pain. :headache:

Dh wants to buy a new microwave - he swears that will cure it all!

Haven't you all heard of the listen method? I think it says this on most bags. You put the popcorn in and listen to the kernels popping. When the popping slows down to 2 to 3 seconds between pops, take it out right away. It's always worked for me. Every kernel won't be popped but most of the bag will be full of non-burnt popcorn.

Actually, Yes. and that's what I did last night. Some of the kernels were still burnt. The kernels that were stuck to the bag in the oil were the ones that still got burnt. :(

I've never been lucky enough to get 1 whole bag of unburnt popcorn popcorn::

Pixie, I'm with you...I've tried the listen method also, and I still get burnt popcorn. The new joke with my dh is that I can't even make microwave popcorn....therefore how can he trust my cooking?? :rotfl:

ughhh  No matter how many times I make microwave Popcorn I always Burn it :sad2: I can stand there at watch it and it burns, put it on for less minutes and it burns, use a different brand and it burns..

Do you have any idea how Bad burnt popcorn smells ??? :scared:

::yes:: Yep! Being at the front desk at work, I have had to deal with the smell of burnt popcorn and lunches on several occasions. The vents here are connected to the break room. So anytime someone uses the microwave, the smell drifts up to the lobby. One microwave was ruined several years ago because of burnt popcorn and it was brand new at that.

I hate it, my dad does it. Our old microwave had the option between snack and regular. Snack cooked it just right and regular burnt it.

I do the listen method and my popcorn still burns!:rotfl: I can't make a bag of popcorn to save my life!

Could it be your microwave???

We have a lousy microwave and we know the reason our popcorn doesn't pop OR burnt cuz it's the microwave. We don't pop popcorn anymore in the microwave until we buy another one.

I hate that smell. It takes forever to get out your house.

Turn the microwave power down to 80% or even 60%.
then use the listen method...
Mikeeee

*watches in awe as the foil expands*

My dad always wants to pop it loger to get more kernals popped but that ALWAYS burns the rest. Therefor if I want popcorn I do it myself.

Sorry OP I don't know what is wrong with your popcorn making skills :confused3

Like someone else said I love movie popcorn with extra fake butter oil.

Yummy I love that fake butter oil stuff.

Oh I definately agree Burnt popcorn is NOT a smell I want waffling around in my house..

no way...

we just put ours in for 2 minutes... not all of it pops, but enough for me:goodvibes

yeah, a lower power should do it. great...now I'm hungry for popcorn:: thankfully I have some in my desk drawer:rolleyes1

Thank You very much by the way to Everyone for trying to help with suggestions. I really think it must be the microwave itself. It is new so maybe the wattage is too high. I never thought of that. Plus if I do put it on for a lesser power might help. I am going to go to the grocery store and buy a different brand of popcorn as well.

You certainly do have an odd predicament. Do you shake the bag good before you put it in so that the kernels don't get stuck? :confused3
