I've been following these threads about AKV for a few days now, the other day I read that there were'nt going to be guaranteed Savannah views so I lost interest.

But now I've been reading that most of the rooms will have Savannah views, So now I feel I have to buy, My 3 year old absolutely loves animals and would love AKV. If I do purchase they will become hers someday. I'm also feeling that the $93 per point is a good price and may never be available again and it will also sell out rather quickly as this resort will become popular.

Does anyone else agree with me? Am I overthinking this?

Well if the only reason you are buying is because your 3 year old loves animals and she will inherit this take a deep breath. Sad to say, but she won't be three for long and by the time she's 17 her priorities may be very different.

Also remember that you aren't just leaving your heirs a "Disney Vacation Club" membership they also get the dues etc that they may not want. Buy what you want and need, not what you think your daughter might want in 20 years. (SHe might just want nothing to do with it!)
Even if it sells out, it WILL be on resale. All of them are and I expect that if this is like the rest of the resorts, the first resales will be undercutting the Disney price.

Still on the Fence!!!

I know shes only 3, and there are resales.

So if we bought at $93 what might points be worth in say 15 years! We could always sell or she could always sell.

I'm with you!

I have always wanted to stay at AKL, but before we bought DVC we were a value resort family. We bought DVC because my little guy was turning 3, and we could no longer have 5 in an All Stars room. We crunched all the numbers, and DVC ended up being more economical over the long run, than paying deluxe prices to have more than 4 in a room, everytime we went.

We can't afford to pay cash to stay at AKL as often as we go, and the 1st time I ever visited the resort, i said, IF AKL becomes a DVC resort, we are IN.

DVC is the ONLY way we can afford to stay in one and two bedrooms at BCV and OKW. DVC will be the only way we could ever afford to stay at AKL!

I am a SSR fan all the way, it is our favorite resort. The BWV and BCV are ok, but never felt a need to stay at those two resorts. If I want to stay in the EPCOT area, we use our Starwood points and stay at the Swan & Dolphin.

Our favorite Non-DVC resort is AKL. We have never stayed there, too much money for a family of 5 (needed 2 rooms). Now that there will be a DVC onsite, we are going to purchase there also. SSR will be our favorite, but I am going to like having the 11 month window for staying at VAK.

My sentiments exactly. I was in the middle of an add-on at SSR when Greenban posted the points charts for VAKL. It seems that if you want to have a good shot of booking rooms in certain categories, you'd better own there other wise you will get what they have. We're going to wind up paying more but we love VAKL and we are guaranteed to always be able to stay at our SSR. We are very excited about owning at our 2 fav places.

We also are a family of five and have never opted to squeeze our selves up in an AKL room. We're really looking forward to our 1st stay there. We will likely alternate every other stay.

We will likely alternate every other stay.

That is what we plan on doing! We have 300 OKW points and 170 BCV points, between those and AKLV, we should be able to really have some NICE vacations between the resorts.

We may even be able to actually BANK points, and get out of our borrow status, that we seem to be stuck in! LOL

I'm tempted to buy at AKV but I'm trying to hold off! Right now I only have 160 points and one weeks vacation! I'm having trouble using up all those points lol In another year I will get a second weeks vacation. In the future more points will be necessary between my wife about to give birth to our second child and my mother in law coming down with us to help with the kids. Good thing I get along great with her!

I hear you, but I have the feeling that no matter how many points we amass, we will some how some way wind up borrowing. It's a conspiracy.:cool2:

Still on the fence:rotfl2:

Did I mention that not only is my daughter a huge animal lover but so am I,
