Why do I cry at Philharmagic?

Its such a great show and there isn't really anything "sad" about it, but everytime I am watching it I can't hold back. Especially when Jasmine hands Donald the hat and he says "Thank You", thats it, I lose it!

The only answer I can come up with is that I am touched by the fact that its an old Disney character interacting with "new" Disney characters. Maybe my heart finds the fact that it closes the generation gap between adults and kids very loving. I dont know?! And Im not a very emotional male at all!

Any shrinks here can psycho-analyze me?

I think they pump tear gas instead of water .DW teared up on our last trip as well.

I've been known to choke up just listening to the audio on my iPod. It's just everything I'd ever expect from Disney, the classic characters, story that pulls you right in and makes you a part of it, the MUSIC! It doesn't get much more "Disney" than that.

That's exactly how I feel! The parade of characters old and new, the music, the meaning...it encompasses everything I love about Disney. I cry out of gratitude that I am able to visit over and over. I cry out of sadness for those who just don't have 'the magic' in them.

I'm 40-year-old father of 2 DS(7&4). It is ridiculous and silly to be crying at a show. It's a SHOOOW! OOOO! AAAAAAH!

My only complaint is that my allergies always flare up HORRIBLY IN THAT AREA OF MK... :rolleyes1

I thought I was the only one. Glad to know I am not the only softie.

It gets me too. It's the music, the characters, the whole feel. I can't help myself, Dh laughs at me... ;)

I thought it was just me...........Dont know why that is........But I always cry!!!

well.......

I didn't cry (in fact I was "pumped" after the show), but the meeting of old and new characters did have quite an effect on me. And as far as the music goes, well, let me put it this way, I do believe that I now know the entire Broadway show of The Lion King by heart.

You don't need to be psycho-analyzed. In fact, to my way of thinking, you sound quite normal! :)

Cheers. :3dglasses

Um... It's in the Magic Kingdom! :lmao:

Last fall my 3 1/2 yo DS got all teary eyed also. It made my heart melt - made me realize the true Disney lover he is!! YIPPEE - takes right after his mom. (It'll be easier to convince my husband that we have to go every year.)

I'm a baby, too. Hearing the music and seeing all the movies that I was brought up as a child, I get teary eyed.

and it's not just Philharmagic....I was listening to the wishes music last night and that got me going too! As did the Illumnations music...and Tapestry of Dreams....I never even saw ToD but just hearing the music does something magical....you can ALWYAS tell Disney music

I am the type to cry, at Beaches, when bette midlers friend dies, and when she sings you gotta give a little, at the end of the movie. Forget it. I am balling by that time in the movie. No matter how many times i see it. Now, Mickeys Philharmagic I watched that with my toughy cousin she is 32, and hard as nails. Didnt even cry at her own fathers funeral. I was trying so hard not to cry. She would have said. Oh no you are not crying. lol I must really be a softy

I dont cry at this one but I cry at Wishes every time. I just have wonderful memories of watching the fireworks as a child with my dad. My dad picked me up and set me on top of a trash can so I could see better. My dad passed in 99 and I miss him terribly and each time I watch Wishes I wish he was there with me.

I didn't cry but I could see if you're a parent and seeing all the little kids grab at the things coming at them and hearing the music how it could get emotional. I remember when I was there 3 months ago there was a family (mom, dad,2 daughters, and a son), and the 3 kids (all 5/6 and under) kept grabbing at the things and the mother was crying and the father kept apologizing. He was like "I'm sooooo sorry, I'm so sorry." I'm sitting there trying to figure out why he thought that his kids having that much fun was annoying to me. To add something so off topic but a cute end to my off topic story, as it turns out, it was their last night there (as was mine) and all the kids were looking forward to was seeing donald duck but the family kept missing him. During one of the final scenes, the youngest yells 'oh look, it's donald!'. At that point all the kids started kissing the air (3D, thought he was there, ya know). It was the cutest thing.

I am a cryer as well, everytime and Wishes to me just encompasses happiness and that is what Walt Disney wanted. It is meant to make you feel good and happy and that is why there is no other place anywhere like it.

I say go ahead and cry, at least they are tears of joy and not sadness!! pixiedust:

Wow!!! I thought it was just me!!! I've cried at Philharmagic (thank god I had those glasses on), Wishes and I've cried at the beginning of The Lion King Musical on broadway, as well as the beginning of the movie the first time my son saw it (3yo) at the IMAX theater (it's all those damn animals bowing, its just so beautiful). I never admitted it before!! Glad to see I'm not the only one!!

I cried the when I saw Philharmagic for the first time in December. I just thought it was beautiful, and encompassed everything Disney. I'll probably cry again in November...but I'm the one that starts to cry when we go under the Big Disney Sign on the way to the resort!!
