Why do full moons bring out the crazies???

Nurse for 30 years here. I don't care what Scientific American says....the patients change when there is a full moon. On a given day, when they are wild, someone will say "I bet there's a full moon tonight" and invariably they will be right.

I have heard the thing about the body's water content. Don't know if that's the explanation but there is SOMETHING about a full moon.

I too believe in the weird power of a full moon. I am a respiratory therapist who also works a lot on the rapid response team. When we have a bunch of crazy things happening (screwdriver to the chest from a wife fighting with her husband, code after code on the floors, multiple stabbings and gunshots all in the same day/night) someone will inevitably say I bet there is a full moon and there is.

I supported myself in grad school by working as a cocktail waitress in a very busy nightclub. Yes, i believe in the full moon effect!
