Why do drive thrus need flowers?

Ok, so I don't like bees...I actually have somewhat of a fear of them. Every week, I have to go thru McDonald's drive thru to get food for DDs, and every week they seem to have more and more flowers!! Right by the intercom where you talk, where you have to roll down your window and have no escape from the 5 million bees that like the flowers! Its a drive thru, I really don't care if its pretty. I still know the garbage bins are back there.
