Why do bears shop at Sears?

PITTSBURGH, Pa. (AP) -
A Pittsburgh-area mall had to be evacuated after a bear entered a store.

Authorities say the bear walked across a parking lot, through doors and into the Sears store at about 9 p.m. Saturday night. They say they have no idea what attracted the bear into the building.

Local media reported that the bear walked around the store and growled at customers, then became stuck between double doors.

The Pennsylvania Game Commission tranquilized the bear and removed it from Pittsburgh Mills Mall, which is about 15 miles northeast of Pittsburgh. No injuries were reported.

Authorities say the bear appeared to be around one and a half years old and had a tracking collar on.

I think it sad that a bear can't go to their local Sears on a Saturday night and do a little shopping without being harassed and shot at. Also, I think this bear has a good case on its hands if it decides to go after Sears for not making their double doors wide enough for an average sized bear to walk through.

I do wonder what a bear could be shopping for at Sears.

This beats the time when I was still working in the Staples retail stores and a deer came into the store. It came in through the front doors, ran down the pen aisle and then went into the back room. It caused some distruction in the backroom and then finally went back out on to the sales floor and back out the front doors.

I know these are privately owned boards, and that he is not a Disney character, but how dare they ban Boo-Boo from the Disboards. I'm outraged!!!

I'm guessing it's because they have a gun department, and in the USA the Constitution ensures that all Americans have the right to arm bears.

No! We ended up having to call the cops on it. They were able to catch the thief later a few doors down at the Hair Cuttery.
