Why Disney with a 2YO? Won't remember.

actually, we just spur of the moment planned a trip for may with our 26 month old and I was contemplating NOT going because of that reason too. I am so glad we are and she is really excited about it too. If i will take her to a zoo, why not animal kingdom, etc. i totally agree and am now excited about it too!

I so don't buy that kids that young "don't remember". Sure, when they're grown up, they are not likely to have vivid memories of their second year of life, but they remember IN THE SHORT TERM!

I have 2 sons. The youngest is 23 months. The oldest is 3.5 years. They have been going to Disneyland their whole lives. My older son's favorite thing to do is look at pictures of when he went to Disneyland as "Baby Max".

My youngest son and I went today. He has been a fair amount of times. This time, though, he ran straight for the rides he wanted to go on (Dumbo, Teacups, and Circus Train). We have not been to Disneyland for over a month. He rarely gets the opportunity to walk freely, since I usually have both kids and keep them in the stroller. Well, this "barely" 2 year old ran straight to those attractions like a homing pigeon. Certainly, he "remembers" enough from previous trips to know what he wanted to do.

Toddlers LOVE Disney parks. Without even having seen one Disney movie, both my kids adore Disneyland.

People who make those kinds of comments are just bitter because THEY don't have any fond memories from their early childhood at Disney...

They may not remember, but it'll be part of who they are! They'll know that when their parents have time off, they like to spend it doing something fun with them. Those good vibes will be part of them forever. (Not that this can only be done at Disney...it can be done in your backyard or taking a walk or by having a picnic!)

So many people use their time off to get things done around the house or to find other ways to work. While that's tempting, we always try to take time and just enjoy our family. And, if you have the money and the inclination, Disney is a great place to do it! I love getting away with the kids...it makes me happy and it makes dh happy. It's that one week out of the year that we don't have to clean the house, pick up dog poop or make dinner and clean it up every night. We can just be together...what kid doesn't benefit from that? :wizard:

We are going in November when my DS will be 2.5 exactly. My mom keeps making comments about how "stupid" we are for doing this because he won't get anything out of it. I really believe this is not true!! It bother's me so much when she says that but I have learned to ignore it.

We ALL can't wait to go:yay:

IGNORE THEM! anyone who talks like that has never gone with a 2 year old- believe me, that baby is going to be the highlight of your trip. Don't listen to them- Last year we took my 2 year old GS to WDW for his 2nd B-day, everyone told me the same thing, "too young" "so much $$ for a trip he wouldn't remember" etc, I thought at the time, we would go for his 2nd and then maybe take him back for his 5th, well- we are going back for his 3rd B-day, it was soooo wonderful with him last year, I can't wait to do it again and can't wait until he's 5, who care's if he doesn't remember it (although I think he will at least think that it's familar, since he was there last year) I don't care, his face watching the fireworks actually brought my daughter to tears it was so special- no amount of $$ will ever replace that day. Believe me your going to think that way when you go. Priceless moments & memories Enjoy

People who don't "get" Disney, will never understand. Those of us Disney freaks know better!
