Donald's sister lost custody of them, because she couldn't stay away from the duck sauce long enough to properly care for them. They now live a happy life with their uncle Donald, who, despite his lack of pants, is a much better influence on them than their bio-mom.
I thought about this question on my trip to WDW 2 weeks ago. Somewhere I saw Mickey & Minnie in their PJ's opening gifts on Christmas morning. Hmmmm....I thought. They must have "spent the night together"....
When I was going throug character greeter training (now called character attendents), we were told that Walt intended for Mickey and Minnie to be forever sweethearts and never to marry. I have loved that idea ever since!
Minnie can do better! I am also concerned about how high his voice is for a mouse of his advanced age. Perhaps puberty skipped right over him. Either way, both have done will without actually reciting vows. To paraphrase...why buy the mouse, when the cheese is free.
Besides Mickey has had it made. A woman by his side for social events, always in a good mood (that happens often, right?), giggles constantly and it appears that she would do anything for "the Boss". Kind of like Hugh Hefner's set up. He'd be a fool to change that and it doesn't appear that he has any intention of doing anything about it. Is there anything worse than a non-committal mouse? Really?!?!

Sounds like Walt was a little anti-marriage. Like the magic wears off once man/mouse are married. Kind of ironic considering Disney is big on selling deluxe destination wedding & honeymoon packages.
On our very first trip, I had met everyone but Daisy, so I chased her down to Toontown on our last day. We told her we were celebrating our anniversary and she pointed to my ring, then pointed to her finger and started "crying". I asked why Donald wouldn't give her a ring and she shruged and started to shake her finger at me and I said you are right, you need to explain to him the importance of jewelry in a relationship .
I have been curious where Max came from as well and where his mom is.
According to the National Enquirer, Mickey has been seen keeping company with not only Daisy Duck but a number of females of different species. There is a report that several of these females even starred in films from Universal Studios that were less than appropriate. There are text messages between Mickey and these homewreakers that will come to light in next weeks edition... They were difficult to decipher because of Mickey's lack of typing skills. The real question, at this point, is whether Mickey really does have opposable thumbs or is he faking it. Only the Enquirer knows for sure
