Why did you sell your resale contracts and buy direct?

Direct points are worth more than resale points, full stop. For me, the current price differential is too large to entice me to buy direct:

- I discount the out-years steeply. Lots of uncertainty about what our vacations will look like in 20 years. I can’t game out my own preferences, or how WDW will change over time.
- The lock-in effect of owning resale in 2058 works in all sorts of ways. I own resale at CCV. If O14 resale owners (or what’s left of the originals) are as stuck with our home resorts as you all predict, the it will be pretty tough for anyone to switch into CCV at 7 months. Who knows? But imagine there could be a more active “reservation swap” system, and I’ll have a desirable and scarce resource to trade.
- you won’t remember the difference in price that you paid for the direct points and I won’t remember what I saved by buying resale. I figure the viable difference in price for my family is an additional two international trips that we are taking. Now, in 2025 (luckily paid for before the dollar dropped). See first bullet.

This group is going to send me to the poor house
If it makes you feel better I don’t think MMB really moves the marker all that much as a reason for a direct purchase. It’s a decent addition if you already have member benefits and would utilize a few of the items listed but otherwise it’s not a huge loss I don’t think.

I will feel better when they raise the price come December 🤣 (hopefully they dont)

As with literally everything else, the price will inevitably go up. I think it just depends on what they add to make it worth the increase. But for now, I feel like the increase won’t be as dramatic as others think. Probably in line with AP price increases so anywhere between 5-10% but they won’t add anything new or they’ll swap things for equal value. But eventually as it goes up and up the incentive to purchase will have to as well so they’ll add things to make it an acceptable value again. Capitalism circle of life, if you will.

I think it's a great value now i would have definetely used the memory maker, otu free points and express lounge. As long as the otu match was under the price being charged i would buy it because that would be the main draw for me.

Yeah it’s been worth it for us for this first year even just for the OTUP. We’ve used them the last few years so it’s nice to get them at half cost for sure. And although lounge priority isn’t all that important to us, it has worked in our favor a couple times already. One of always have memory maker on our AP so don’t really need that but I can definitely see its benefit for those who come once a year.
