Because I have just signed my contract like so many others, I want to know what made you select the resort you haven chosen... what was the thing or things that made up your mind... After all the research I did and the bugging of my friends for answers, for me it was all to easy.....

The Wilderness Lodge is one of my favorite resorts, it is off the beaten path just enough to have a feeling of NOT being jammed pack with everyone from the Magic Kingdom passing through and yet close enough to be in the middle of things. It has everything I need while on vacation, breakfast in the morning is a real experience..LOL and at night time walking around... it is just beautiful... for me, The Villas at the Wilderness Lodge is perfect.

I am looking forward to hear about yours...

Well, I was fairly uneducated when I purchased...I bought Vero because they were offering a good deal and I could afford it. I have yet to visit there...always staying on-site so far. I hope someday to buy some small add-ons on-site so I am assured a place if DVC ever decides to change the rules for VB or HH owners.

We stayed at the Yacht Club years ago and DH always said if there was a DVC located there he would buy in a minute! It only took 10 years for this to happen but I'm so happy it did. We love the Epcot resort area and SAB can not be beat! IMHO Annmarie

When I bought in late 1999, the choice was either OKW by resale or BWV direct from DVC. I had stayed at OKW and loved the large rooms and had stayed at the Beach Club and loved the area. I was thinking that I would like to do a May trip at OKW and an early December trip at BWV each year. Since early December would be difficult at 7 months, I chose to go with BWV. The ease of buying direct was in the back of my mind too. Each year since we have followed the plan and I have no regrets. May is a more relaxing trip at OKW and Dec is great at BWV being around all the Christmas activities.

After staying at OKW, I fell in love with the grounds. I love the quiet, peaceful atmosphere there. The rooms are so nicely appointed and the colors are so soothing and comforting for me. It's a great location too, not too far yet not too close to anything. I thought long and hard and as much as I like the Epcot area, I actually prefer not being able to walk to and from my room there all the time (hard to explain). And while I love the MK area, VWL didn't speak to me the way it should have. So the logical choice for the resale we are about to close on was OKW for me. It truly feels like "home" when I was there :)

Stayed at Beach Club in '99. Bought Beach Club Villa in '02. All I can say is
Location, Location, Pool, Location.

I chose BWV because it had everything we want or desire on vacation. Even before DVC existed and long before there was an Epcot DVC resort; we had already discovered how much we LOVED the Epcot resort area.. So when BWV opened it was never even a question. I had already been sold on the DVC concept, I was just waiting for a resort that would provide us with the location and level of guest services/amenities that we wanted.
When BWV opened, I could not have been happier. I will never forget the first time I saw BWI/BWV completed and fully open to the public, I instantly feel in love with the resort. I was amazed how detailed and beautiful the whole resort and new boardwalk area was. Plus it provided a VERY important factor to us while on vacation--an unparralled location for convenience and ease to a great variety of attractions, dining, etc. IMO, no other WDW location provides as much of a variety in all facets of possible vacation desires, and with as much ease of access and convenience--as an Epcot resort does.
I love all areas of WDW and greatly enjoy and stay at many WDW resorts in different areas on property, but for us, our favorite will most likely always be the Epcot resort area. So I bought at BWV and have also kept all additional pts at BWV. I was very tempted a few times to add on to BCV (our 2nd favorite DVC resort) but have stuck with just the one resort because it makes my life easier to have all the pts at one resort.
So that is our story!
Next! LOL!

We like BCV for the beachy atmosphere, the proximity to two parks we love, and SAB.

We wanted 1 on-site at WDW (OKW) and 1 ocean front (VB). Also wanted 11 month booking window for GV's and Beach Cottages when needed.

They were offering BWV and BCV when I toured. I didn't decide to buy at the time though. Only a couple of months later, SSR became available, and when it was first for sale, the incentives were very good. These incentives, the 50 year contract, and the Downtown Disney location were the deciding factors. That said, had BWV or BCV had the same incentives, I probably would have gone with one of them. We stayed at BW and loved it, and I am sure we will love SSR too. I don't think you can go wrong with any of them, and personally I wouldn't be unhappy staying at any of them. You have to like the atmosphre/feel of the resort you choose. Try looking at some online pics of the resorts and consider location, etc.

For Boardwalk it was what was available when we bought from Disney but we knew it was right for us. Location, location, location. Love it!

For Vero the price was right for an add-on and my in-laws loved it when we sent them there for a week. We felt it was a great way to get more points for us (for things like the cruising) and have a great beach getaway for family.

We first bought into DVC with a VWL contract. Why?

The Wilderness Lodge is one of my favorite resorts, it is off the beaten path just enough to have a feeling of NOT being jammed pack with everyone from the Magic Kingdom passing through and yet close enough to be in the middle of things. It has everything I need while on vacation, breakfast in the morning is a real experience..LOL and at night time walking around... it is just beautiful... for me, The Villas at the Wilderness Lodge is perfect.

Well, that's a pretty good start on why! :p

The theming, the spectacular lobby, the gurgling spring in the lobby that leads outside to a babbling brook that feeds the pool, the geyser, Bay Lake, the music playing throughout the resort...

...these are a few of my favorite things. (Move over Julie Andrews). ;)

Your right Granny... 100% correct..

I want to thank everyone for all of your comments. I know I made the right choice but then so have we all. Because we enjoy DisneyWorld so much, and now that I am becoming a DVC member, the next time I step into the Wilderness Lodge, I can look around and say... "I''ve come home"

Thanks again everyone!

We bought at BCV in July 2003. I believe it is all that was available with DVC. So we took what they had and I understand BCV sold out fairly soon after that. We got lucky as we really had not done any research prior to that. Didn't even tour BCV, had no idea about SAB, etc. I am very happy with our decision. So much that we even bought an additional contract with DVC at OKW so we can experience two resorts as our home resort. OKW was because of all the wonderful reviews we saw on these boards.

Laurie,
Enjoy your first trip as DVC members! I hope you have a trip full of Disney magic and pixie dust!!!!
Just curious,
Have you not stayed at either BCV or OKW, or any of the other WDW DVC resorts before you purchased DVC contracts? If so, you have at least visited the various WDW DVC resorts, right?? Or did you base your resort choices on what was available for sale through Disney and on the personal opinions that are posted on this board?

:sunny: We bought VB because I grew up near the beach in St. Pete, Fl. We live so close to Disney that I can take advantage of the Florida Residents specials, and I like doing that for short trips. We have checked out (stayed at) OKW, VWL, & BWV. I loved them too so I can certainly use my points on site if I want to splurge on bigger, better rooms. But hopefully we will use the points for VB which is why we bought. Bought site unseen. We will finally see it today. :Pinkbounc

July:jumping1:

I only bought last month and we went with SSR because that is what Disney had to offer. I am very happy with that since everything I have heard makes it sound liek a great place. We will see for ourselves come August I am now realizing that the 50 years is going to be nice too can pass this on to our DD later in our lives

Back in 1994 I stayed at OKW as a cash customer. I did not realize anyone could do that. At any rate I thought I was in a very special place just for the upper crust of society, a very up-scale resort. After my purchase in 95 and a few visits, I found out how wrong I was, it was not first class as far as the service went that is for sure, but the accomodations are still great, I have no desire to stay there anymore when it is busy. I will only be going in January from now on. I would not buy into it at this time knowing what I know now, but it was fun for awhile, especially my first few visits when they were still trying to get customers and to impress them down there.

We bought direct from DVC and the only thing available at that time was WLV. We hadnt stayed at any of the DVC resorts so we didnt really have a preference although in our minds we were hoping for BWV for the Epcot proximity. We bought site unseen but knowing it was Disney property was good enough for us.

But now that we own at WLV, we are so happy that we do. I am not knocking BWV but WLV is so quite and peaceful and we love the closeness to MK. We are just happy DVC owners:D period!!

OKW for its charm, condo style, value (cost to purchase and maintenance), large nicely designed units.

BCV for its location, SAB and 11 month booking window for December.
