Maybe DVC raised the price to $95 per point because they needed to slow down the sales! Less sales at a higher profit margin over a longer period of time. They probably know which year Eagle Pines has a budget to start constrution and they have to make SSR last until then. Also a higher price point with less sales mean they need fewer guides, fewer people answering the phones, ect.. Their finance people probably figured that they'll make a lot more by raising the price. Anyway I don't think that the only reason they raised the price was so simple. I don't believe they think that the same amount of people will buy and they'll just get $6 more per point!:scratchin

Where is Eagle Pines that everyone keeps talking about?

As Michael Douglas said in the movie, Wall Street:

"Greed is Good."

I hope Eagle Pines comes to pass. It would be nice to have another resort with decent sized rooms.

Why? Because they can! It is not a good business practise to sell something for too much less than the market will bear; yeah you don't want to gouge people either, but this seems reasonable enough (since I am not buying it at the higher price anyway :p).

Also I think my most excellent guide might go out on maternity leave at some point soon, so she can use the break after they raise the price and dampen demand a bit.

$95... It's about a much as a field level seat at Yankee Stadium.
I don't think George is too worried about attendance...neither must DVC. Someone's buying tickets at that price.

As a new owner at SSR who purchased at $79 per point, I am surprised that so many members are upset at the price increase. It just adds to our value as owners to know that a higher price still draws members. I wonder if at $95 they will offer $10 off at the resort opening without a point buy back. I think it is great that demand continues to increase.

I suppose Doug has a good point. If you are wanting to see your investment appreciate you are happy. If you want to consider more points in the future...there is the rub!
Doug since you are newer you may not have been bitten by the "gotta have more bug" and perhaps you have immunity. The rest of us have significant addictions to the "gotta have more bug" and feel we are being personally singled out for higher prices! Of course, this theory cannot be proven!

If they have a lot of fence sitters - this will push them to buy. Then, if sales stall, they can always discount via MB or some other discount program. They may be upping the price BECAUSE they have some discount plan in the works.

Rich, why do you think EP will have decent sized rooms? I think they'd build it the same as the recent DVC resorts - they now have that floorplan down to a science. They certainly don't seem to need to build OKW sized rooms to sell the program - and they can fit more rooms in less space with smaller rooms.

There are two WDW golf courses out near Ft. Wilderness -- Bonnett Creek. One is Eagle Pines. DVC first announced that this would be the next DVC resort and even showed plans for the resort. It looked very elegant and appealing.

Then 9/11 hit and WDW had to adapt. The DI wasn't a roaring success. They made the decision to turn it into SSR. SSR went forward first. DVC has said that Eagle Pines continues to be in the works.

When they anounced Eagle Pines, they said it would have OKW like rooms.

Unless I was dreaming.

Unfortunately, you were dreaming.

Take a look at the 2001 Eagle Pines press release . There was speculation on this board that, as standalone resort like OKW, the DVC resort at Eagle Pines might have OKW-sized condos. Alas, DVC proved when they designed SSR, "standalone" does not equal "large condos."

i feel certain, that we never see another DVC II resort like OKW.

with low point requirement
low annual dues
large square foot condos

in comparison to other DVC I and future DVC II Resorts

anyone disagree??
