Why closing so early?

Don't know about that date.

Although - don't forget that IOA will be closing at 5pm on Wednesday, May 9th. The park is hosting a free afterhours party for the huge travel agent "powwow" convention grand finale here in Orlando.

In the summer, the park should a least stay open while its still daylight--the complete summer, not just half. It is not even dusk yet at 7 or 8. It is dusk at 9. I have read on this board how awesome JP and other attractions are at night. Unfortunately half of the summer, the park will be closed before dusk and guests who have come from all over the country and beyond will not be able to experience it. That's just my opinion...

IOA has become very popular (I wonder why? ;)) with corporations looking to do special promotions for customers or special wing-ding blow-out parties for the trade. I've been caught several times this way, either shooed out early or not allowed in until the park was full of VIPs.

In theory, you can get advance warning about these events, but only 48 hours prior to the event. Call Guest Services at 407-363-8000.

Hours are normally based on the season and attendance projections. It's not summer yet, and is actually an off season time now. Yes, the park is beautiful at night, but it's a significant economic loss to stay open when there are not enough people staying late. Most all of the parks in the area follow similar schedules.

Normally, an event will not close the park early unless it is very significant. In such a case, the event is usually as large or larger than the attendance of the park was for the day.
