After our last trip and 6 character dinners. We sort of got tired of seeing Chip and Dale at so many dinner. Why are they at so many. It would be nice to see more Mickey and Minnie or Donald.

EXCELLENT question!!! They are by no means the most popular characters. Why them? I can see where they would make Mickey Mouse "rare" to keep him special. And they have a big following for the princesses. But there are SO MANY cool characters that I wonder why Chip and Dale.

Just FYI, when we were at Disneyland two years ago, we saw Minnie at lots of places, in lots of different outfits. It was a lot of fun to see her so much.

And to echo another thread, where the heck is Daisy Duck all the time? I'd LOVE to see Daisy and Donald together.

I always wonder the same thing.

We love seeing Chip & Dale, but would also love to see other characters at our meals. It looks like Chip & Dale got laid off at 'Ohana's breakfast - they've been replaced by Lilo & Stitch. :rotfl:

I have heard that Chip and Dale work a little cheaper than the others. :rotfl: Mickey commands a much higher salary. :earboy2:

I had a college friend who, in the mid 80's, worked at WDW as a part of the college program. She is very petite, and was in demand as a character- she told me that there are height restrictions- and physique restrictions- for the various characters. Some are very hard to fit- Donald, Daisy, Mickey, and Minnie, and the Dwarves are required to be short- some under 5'. that might be a reason some characters are rare- Chip and Dale must be more average sized.

All I have to say is... "CHUCK AND DAVE! CHUCK AND DAVE!"

Shout out to DelsWife!

I have often thought they must have a warehouse full of Chip & Dale costumes somewhere. And how awful it would be if something were to "happen" to them! :rolleyes1

I have to agree with your assessment. We are taking our DD5, DD4 and DS2 on their first WDW trip in December. We tried to avoid Chip and Dale at our three character dinings simply because the kids don't know who they are.

Size is definately a factor. Duck sized characters (under 5 ft. ) are much harder to come by just due to the shortage of people. (My humble opinion, those of us who are vertically challenged have the good sense to stay out of hot fuzzy costumes). Also, the mannerisms of Chip and Dale are apparently some of the earier ones to learn. It takes less time for someone new to learn to get them "right" than to learn Mickey.

I wonder if it was becasue they were one of the first characters around for Disney....Just a thought....MY kids LOVE chip and dale.

What is wierd....you cannot find chip and dale stuff anywhere....we looked everywhere for a shirt with them on it....could not find it anywhere

Chip and Dale were my son's favorite when we visited for his 3rd b-day. :) I'm not quite sure why, either. He didn't know them from anywhere.

I do understand what you're saying though, they certainly were everywhere!

I had heard that they were less frightening to the very young children, more like big Teddy bears.

Many small children are uncertain about Mickey and Minnie and especially Goofy.

That always goes through my head when I see them now! And no one else in my family gets it so I can't even share why I have a funny smile!

Love ya, mean it Delswife! (they don't get that either--but it makes me :rotfl2: !!!)

I'm gonna look for Nutsy this trip!

Aw man--now this gave me the urge to back and read some of Delswife's trip reports and I am :rotfl: so hard that I am  !!!

Now I will never get to sleep tonight!

Only shirt I've ever seen of Chip and Dale was at Target, actually. Brown with a small picture of them on the front and "Chip and Dale 47" in pale brown glitter. Then there's a huge picture of them standing back to back on the back of the shirt. It was in the junior department (and, if ya couldn't tell, I own it! :rotfl2: ). Target has some good character shirts for women/teenage girls. You just have to be on the lookout. I have that one, a Mickey one, a Tinkerbell one, and maybe one other one from there.
