Why Can't You Pay Your Balance In Advance????

We're leaving in a couple of days and I want to pay off the balance I owe on one of our rooms. I made the ressie online. When I called Reservations a CM said any online ressies have to be paid in-person at the hotel. The reason for this is that the balance "doesn't show up" in their reservation system. I asked if I called the hotel directly, could I pay via the front desk before arrival and was also told no. I don't understand this. In the past, many times I have paid for my son's room and given him a credit of cash to use while we're down there. I even remember that you used to be able to pay online but that feature is also gone bye, bye.....does this make any sense???

I have limited funds on one of my credit cards and want to pay with my DH's card but he is not arriving the same day as I am so I just want to pay it over the phone.

I don't know the answer to your advance payment question, but if you're looking for a way to make the payment on your husband's credit card, you could always have him purchase a Disney gift card or Disney Dollars at your local Disney store and use that when you check in.

Ummm, You can pay in advance. I always pay my trip off in early.:confused3

It is a room ressie only -- I'm an AP so I don't need tix - I did call again in the meantime and they said no again. It's a real pain in the posterior....I'm not understanding the reasoning "behind" it....the CM said in the future call in the ressie and do it that way ...if it's phoned in you can pay it off. It is really inconvenient.:confused3

For some reason the room only reservations can not be paid off early on line or over the phone. In the past I have always made a copy of my reservation confirmation and mailed in payments by check so that the room is paid off before I get there.
I think the idea of one of the other posters is a good idea: using your husbands credit card to buy a disney gift card so that you have the funds to pay off your room when you get there.

Yep, it seems that room only booked on the Disney website can't be paid over the phone and has to be paid upon check in. In fact I only learned recently that room only could be paid in advance (if you book over the phone or with a TA), (I've always paid at checkin).

Your hubby could buy you a Visa gift card (doesn't have to be Disney) for your balance due. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

That's a good idea - can you buy the gift cards online --- my one and only Disney store just closed days ago -- I would have to go all the way to NYC - (I'm only about 45 mins away but it's still a haul)....There was one Disney store left near me (in Yonkers, NY) - but they are re-doing the mall area and I went to it the other day and I just looked into an empty store -- it was truly crushing.... I used to love to get my Disney Dollars as stocking stuffers or for Valentine's Day for my kiddies .... but I may be able to get the gift card online, right?? Thanks for all your help everyone :):wizard:

another idea is maybe you could be added to your dh's credit card acct? so you could go ahead an use it at check in?

I read the FAQ with regard to gift cards on the Disney site and it looks like you can use it to pay off balances on resort ressies at Disneyland but it just said "coming soon" or something like that with regard to Disneyworld????

You can use the gift cards for anything in WDW. But if you are just a few days away from your trip, ordering it on line will not get it too you by the date you are going. A Visa gift card may be helpful instead.
One thing though, that I had not thought about earlier. If you have a card with a set amount to pay off your room then you will not be able to charge back to your room, unless you have cash to be on your account...just a thought

Ummmmmm - kinda sarcastic, no? And unnecessary ...I'm not stupid.

I don't know if this is aimed at my post but I was in no way trying to be sarcastic or calling you stupid. I was just asking if it was a room only ressie and that may possibly be the reason as I have heard some people say this as well. I have never made a room only ressie and I truly don't know.

use your dh's credit card to do a balance transfer from yours and that way you have the flexibility and available credit and he has the bill ;)

or a visa or amex gift card would work...

or how 'bout a check or cash?

debit card?

I don't understand this??? Why would Disney refuse to accept the money that you owe them?????

I wish my mortgage company would start refusing to accept my money!!
I wouldn't mind to keep it!! :rotfl:

Don't think it was you Coach, I think it was in reference to CFKnight.

Tell me about it! There was a thread a few days ago about a person who paid her room only in advance, only to be told at check-in that it wasn't possible and that she could not be paid in full. She even had receipts showing paid in full and called the credit card company and they still gave her a really hard time. They then sneaked the charges in at check out and she is still fighting it.

Which in her case the front desk personnel were WRONG and she was in fact paid in full.

If Disney can create the Fastpass system, and real time live interactive attractions, why can't they get an accurate accross the board reservations system?

Very true!!! I always book packages (which must be paid in full 45 days in advance), so I don't have experience with the room only thing! I like doing packages because it is easy, I like the dining plan, and I like leaving home knowing my trip is paid for, except for spending money!!
