Why can't we slow ourselves down????

I will not do craziness and try to wake up at 6 and rush every one out of resort to make rope drop everyday. I will not plan to eat at ts except one a day. I will not run to get fast passes.

This is what I have promised Hubby. I will be the crazy one up at 7 am (natural wake up time no matter if I don't got to sleep till 5am) waiting in dark for everyone else to get their lazy butts out of bed.

It's Disney I MUST DO EVERYTHING, but this trip I will be happily relaxed and skip whatever they don't want to do. My friend are already teasing me saying you cant and omg the booze bill is going to be really high. Lol

Love this! :rotfl:

Your family sounds like mine.. Now I remarried my DH doesn't like all the rushing around or being on the go constantly b/c he has a very physical job..

So in 2010 DH comes to me says ill make a deal book the Poly on the condition we take daily swim breaks.. I thought yea right but I wanted to book The Poly so I promised..

That trip was magnificent! Fun, romantic, relaxing! We now try & take daily breaks (8 day trips) & still manage to ride, do, see everything we want some multiple times..

Now we go in Sept so that could be the difference if your going in peak time..

We forced ourselves to slow down this trip too, and it was great! One of our best trips, probably second to the first trip with our kids. Our trip was 9 nights/10 days, one full day without a major park for thr firt time ever (9th trip). We spent a lot of time at the pool and the water parks, no full days in the parks, and repeats on only our most favorite rides (BTM, Peter Pan, Splash, TSM) and only saw each fieworks show once. Our "relaxed" plan was helped (hindered?) by TS Andrea, but we have a blast in the pouring rain, too! We had four ADRs to start with and canceled one the day before we were to eat there because we were enjoying the "wherever we want to be, whenever we want to be there".

I have mastered the art of being able to sleep pretty much anywhere. I have fallen asleep standing against a wall in the Italy pavilion during a Ziti Sisters performance, the tiki room, the finding nemo show, etc. After these power naps I am ready to go for a bit longer. If I wanted to I could go all day everyday, but I would be in an awful mood so I try to go back to the resort to take a nap and not use my in park power nap strategy.

Here is your situation:

When at the park, you don't want to leave. You don't want to take a midday break and don't want to leave early. We are the same way.

I would suggest taking days off inbetween park days. Schedule two park days, then a sleep in/pool day. Two park days, then a rent a boat day. This way you pack in your park days but rest in between.

We go every year taking 10 day trips. We are DVC members, so we know we will be back next year. Still we try to ride everything multiple times.

There are four of us. DD is 16. DS is 10. No one ever wants to skip anything. Here are a couple of examples.... I feel like we can alternate which show we see each year at AK. Last year we saw Nemo, so I figured this year, we'd see FotLK, but DS was disappointed about skipping Nemo.

Another example was the 2 days we went to DHS. (DH's favorite park.) The first day we saw BatB (like we do every year) and I thought to myself that we could cross that off our list since we saw it our first day, but DD wanted to see it again on our second DHS day.

We split up a little bit since DH and DD ride ToT and RnRC, but other than that we don't split up much since it is a family vacation.

We had PAP this trip, but only had a couple of hours to spend at DQ and BB. By the middle of our trip, we are exhausted! We don't take mid-day breaks due to transportation time. We are there for RD every day to beat the crowds. And nobody ever wants to leave at night. So we open and close the parks every day with no break.

Our trips are far from relaxing, even though we know we'll be back.

Anybody else with this problem???? Have you been able to find a way to relax????

While we are not quite the completists that you folks seem to be, my family (me, DW, DD16, DS13) can't get enough of the parks every single day of our vacations. We have been to WDW 15+ times now, and I figured we might have our attention diverted just a bit. But it always seems to work out where we wear the parks out open to close.

We also tend to stick together a lot. DW and DD don't ride Splash Mt because they don't like getting wet. DD doesn't care for ToT. Sometimes DW and I will send the kids to a park ahead of us and we will catch up with them later in the morning. Other than that we are a solid band of four all day long, which is great because that is pretty much the point of our Disney vacations.
