Why can't people on eBay follow the rules?

I had two transactions yesterday and neither the seller nor the buyer followed the rules :crazy2:.

(1) I bought a Victoria Secret PINK iPhone case for my DD. I paid more for it from a US vendor with great feedback instead of one from China so it would be sent quickly and it would be authentic. The shipping was indeed quick, but the case was a cheap knock-off. It doesn't even fit on the phone and it falls off. I have asked for a full refund and there is no way I am paying to send a counterfeit case back.

(2) I am also selling multiple items for about $4.25 each. I got a ridiculously low offer of $2 on the items for 7 of them, I countered-offered with $3.25 since he was buying so many of them and the potential buyer responded with an offer of $2.50 and a note that we could take the transaction off of eBay so I could save fees (and obviously pass on those savings to him!). And this is a SELLER who has over 1400 feedbacks! Why would you risk your eBay business to save a few dollars?

I am really tempted to report both of them. They are the kind of sellers and buyers who have ruined eBay.

Report them. Frankly I'm tired of the same things. I orderd a textbook that claimed to be the USA version got the international. I had paid the premium price also. Now I have to go through the hassle of returning etc.

And I've dealt with a couple of awesome sellers recently too. Makes you see the difference!!

I would report them!:headache:

I've been selling and buying on eBay for years, and only lately have run into problems. I recently ordered two items from different sellers, paid, and two weeks later they still hadn't been shipped! I was furious!

I don't know whats going on over there lately... but its not cool. Ive always used Ebay as a reliable place to buy/sell....

I have had a lot of issues lately buying and selling as well. Buyers who won't pay, ridiculously low best offers and one buyer who harassed me about selling an item to another buyer after they placed a very low offer. Last time I looked ebay was a bidding site, I'm selling items to make $$, so I'm going to sell to the person with the highest bid/offer. Not go back and forth with counteroffers with someone who sent me several offers way below what an item was listed for (or worth) and then inform me they would only pay the buy it now price if I would ship the item for free! Ummm....no.
As for sellers, most of what I have received lately has been a joke. Items not as described at all. As in, sellers listing items as good or excellent condition and they turn out to be in poor or fair condition at best. I'm starting to think it's not worth it to buy or sell on ebay anymore.

Report them! I have had some really low offers on things I sell. Like instead of $19.99 they offer $2 ??? Maybe they randomly do this, I don't even respond. It got so bad, I took off the best offer feature.

report them! This is how you can keep sellers/buyers honest. If more people reported sellers/buyers that don't follow the rules then I'd probably use it more.

Definitely report them!

I actually just quit selling on ebay - I've been a seller since 1999 and have a 100% positive feedback, but I'm just tired of the BS out there.

My family is having a huge yard sale this weekend and I priced all my ebay inventory at 1/3 or less of what it sells on ebay to give another seller a great deal, but to get rid of it so I don't feel like I "have" to list it!

I'm also done buying unless it's something specific that I'm looking for...I bought an exercise slider for $45 and it was not as described. Seller did not answer my email so I opened a case - it was found in my favor yesterday and ebay provided a prepaid label for me to send it back - I am thankful for that as it's a fairly big box that would have probably cost me $20 to ship back!

I'm to the point that I sell my husbands textbooks (he's a grad student) directly to Amazon's buy-back program - I get about 10-20% less for them and it's in an Amazon credit, but it's no hassle and I buy 95% of my online stuff on Amazon anyway.

I had an issue where I bought a dress, but it didn't fit. The seller accepted refunds and I contacted them to send it back. They said no problem, but I had to leave 5 star feedback before they would allow the return. I told them I would have left positive feedback, but would not be doing so having been demanded to and if they pushed it, I would report it for feedback extortion. They blasted back they did nothing wrong (per their ebay rep) and after the return, would no longer do business with me. Fine by me I said. The next email from them apparently had more clarification from their ebay rep, because they said it was "miss worded" and the people that bought from them "always" gave positive feedback.

You can set the "best offer" to automatically decline any offers under X
$ amount. It keeps you from even seeing those low ball offers. Ebay doesn't even notify you if it's below whatever amount you enter. They just decline for you.

You can also set it up to automatically accept anything over X $ amount too if you want.

Honestly, I prefer straight up Buy It Now w/ Immediate payment required.

I'm a relatively new ebay user, about 2 years now, but I use it sparsely. I'm mostly a buyer. Back on 5/19 I won an auction. I kind of took a gamble because I REALLY wanted the item but the ebay user hadn't had any feedback since 2008 (it was all positive at that time). My item was estimated to arrive on 5/27 but she didn't even ship it until then. Not only that, but she still hasn't given me positive feedback. Since I paid in full with PayPal 1 minute after winning the auction... doesn't she have to leave feedback for me first? I don't plan on leaving her any until I get my feedback. Someone correct me if needed since I'm not a regular ebayer.

As a buyer I can't really receive bad feedback. I just give the appropriate feedback to the seller and move on.

And really a buyer can still screw e seller after a quick payment. It is still a dance of trust IMO.

As for the estimated delivery the seller probably didn't adjust the handling time to reflect the time frame they'd get to the post office. I do, however, find that their priority mail estimates do not reflect actual post office delivery times. I've gotten comments that items arrived a day 'late' even when I shipped out first thing in the morning after payment.

Sellers are not required to leave feedback just like buyers aren't required to leave it. And since buyers only can get positives their feedback is rather meaningless. With the new defect system that eBay is rolling out to get rid of top rated sellers (and save themselves the discounts they give them) more sellers may stop giving feedback first.

As a seller, I would incourage you to report both instances. I'm pretty sure a buyer can do whatever they want in regards to offer you a sale 'off the record.' however, if you are caught, YOU, the seller are in trouble. Take a few minutes and use the support ebay offers and give them a call. Let them know what these two have done. They need to go.

eBay does not offer phone support to the average user. They are not going to ban the users the OP has complained about for these two offenses either. Besides, these offenses are nothing compared to the major fraud which occurs on eBay every day.

Its quite simple, actually. Click the customer support tab, select 'my question is not here.' then, 'call us.' very easy.
The representatives do notate on the accounts any mysterious behavior or violation of policy.
Very simple. :confused3

It's very simple. I've used it twice already. They are incredibly helpful when you talk to them.

Could you post a link? I couldn't find this following your instructions:

http://ocsnext.ebay.com/ocs/home

I have been a registered eBay user since 1996, am a trusted reporter, and I now buy something there maybe twice a year and haven't sold for years. It's a massive cesspool of fraud in many categories. The OP's complaints are nothing and eBay will do no more than issue a warning (if that), unless these users have many other violations on their accounts.

Sure. From your link, click 'resolution center' then 'my problem is not listed here.' you will be taken to the next screen which looks very similar, however, next to 'find an answer' and about 'what can we do for you' is a tab that says 'contact ebay.'
