Why can't I get a single night at ASSp?

We booked free dining from November 17-21 at ASSP. Trying to get the 16th as a room only, but cannot find any availability. If I try the 15-16th it is available as well as the 16th-17th. WHY????

Disney uses a booking algorithm to avoid orphan nights. Maybe trying calling and escalating the issue to guest services.

The beginning of the week of the 16th is Veterans Day so maybe there are schools that are out that week, people just vacationing, the last week before the Thanksgiving rush comes in. Not sure what GS would be able to do - either there's availability or there's not.

OP said that two nights are available, both sets that include the 16th, but not the single night. So technically, it is available.

I was checking options for our trip (in case we wanted to change resorts), and I found the same thing. We'll be there over a Sat, Sun, and Mon night in early November. When I looked at just those nights, options were very limited and only at deluxes. I was curious and played around with dates a bit to see if things were really as booked as they looked. When I searched for a longer trip (I think I added Tues and Wed) I found availability at a good number of values and moderates. So technically there were open rooms, they just didn't want them to go for what was essentially a weekend-only reservation.

Same thing happened to me. 2 nights ago I renewed our AP so I checked to see what discounts were available for our already planned trip dec 21-28 and I wanted to change from BC to YC but nothing available the 21-28th so I tried the 20-28th and it was bookable so I grabbed it up while it was available. They try to make sure they have solid bookings without any single nights between reservations is all I can guess.

So, I booked the 16th-18th. If I call, can they just cancel the one day, or will I lose the whole thing? I can't modify it to drop it online.

If you call they will most likely first tell you they can't, because the person on the phone can't. But if you then ask to speak to guest relations about it, then they will contact guest relations for you and THEY can do it. If you get a no, keep trying.

Many hotels have minimum stays to drive up occupancy on less popular nights. or during busy times of the year as cleaning rooms at checkout is more time consuming than an occupied room.

Thanks, all! I got through and they did have to get Guest services involved, but got that night dropped and now I can stop stalking that part of the page. Hopefully I can get that elusive 'Ohana dining ressie next
