Why buy into DVC when there are discounts?

Even though we own DVC, I still check out the budget board for tips on saving money in other areas. Anyway, I ran across this thread.

Of course, there are still discounts out there but they are definately shrinking in size. We bought into DVC before the millennium celebration and still remember the complaints about lack of discounts during that year, too. I think this thread just goes to prove that while there have been some great discounts in the last year, and I'm sure there will be great discounts in some years to come, DVC is still a much better deal if you average out the years when the discounts are smaller or even non-existent during the time of year that you want to go.

I personally don't miss having to scramble to find a room in a resort I want at a price I want to pay. Staying at my home resort is always a great buy compared to rack rates.

I completely agree! While we wouldn't have bought DVC if it hadn't made sense for us financially, I consider not having to stress out over getting room discounts a great benefit!

Family Trip Planner Here. It is sooooo nice to have DVC at my fingertips. I used to spend weeks stressing out over what rate we'd wind up paying during our stay at the World. Now it doesn't matter. And I can sleep at nite, knowing we've got a lovely place to stay that's already paid for...

Thanks for the information, Lisa (Granny said, trying to hide a feeling of smugness and self-satisfaction). :D :D :D :D

Now if they could only come up with the 40 year pre-paid admissions program!!!:earseek:
