Why buy into a resort that expires 15 years before others??

BUT of course, staying on the Boardwalk is definitely where we'd like to be. So how have you all gotten around this issue? Or is it even an issue to you? What will happen in the year 2042 (or whenever the DVC ownership expires) - are you offered a chance to buy back in at a huge discount??

Thanks!! :thumbsup2

It was a huge issue for us when we first bought into the program. We went with SSR because it was the newest at the time. It's also become a favorite home for us so win-win.

But as we spent time in the system, we've grown to appreciate the other resorts as well. Resale add-ons are a great way to indulge an interest in those other locations while keeping your long term master contract.

We own a few points at BLT and BWV specifically to capitalize on the 11 mos booking window. BLT because we want studios; BWV because we want October during the height of Food & Wine festival.

This was a prominent issue in our decision to buy DVC. We ended up buying at VWL, instead of grabbing a SSR contract. After our trip to VWL last week, I am convinced we made the correct choice. WDW and especially, VWL, are absolutely stunning during the holiday season, but I digress. As for the longer contract issue, I initially got caught up in the idea that it would be nice to leave the DVC membership to my kids (in the event that my wife and I pass before we turn 100), but I figured that my kids may not want to deal with the maintenance fees that will likely be exorbitant by 2042!

If you are concerned about it, split your purchase between the two resorts. You can do this by purchasing a contract for BWV or BCV via resale then adding on at BLT, AKV or SSR.
