Why are Value Resorts Full in February

Alright- what gives. I have been looking for a value room for 6 or 7 nights in February. Only thing I am finding available is Art of Animation. We are at the Parks from open to close with park hopping to get every possible minute so we don't need a nicer resort. I know there is a race weekend and President's day but what else is going on to have everything full?

President's Day, Valentine's Day, Mardi Gras. They're what I can think of from a holiday stand point. None of which sound like something that would wipe out almost all of the values, though.

First week and second week have dance and cheerleading like PP mentioned.

The third week, presidents day week, is second only to Christmas/New Years in insane crowd levels.

The 4th week is generally a good time to go even though its Mardi Gras. We went that week this year and crowds were fine.

I always spend Feb. fighting snowmageddon in the NE corner of the country so I was clueless about WDW that time of year. Now that I've learned more about it, I think I'll just stay home in the snow. ;) I like trying my best to avoid going when multiple big groups are likely to be there.

More schools than ever have a week of break in February. Used to just be NE but it seems more and more schools each year are adding a Feb break.

Disney has an entire marketing team who's entire job is to make sure every room is full every day. They get compensated very well for this, and they are good at what they do.

Strange you see more schools adding February because I see schools taking them away.

I’ve been in CT my whole life, and we always had a full week off for February break. Now school districts around me mostly have long weekends instead.

Frustrating because it’s not really enough time to do a good trip, nor long enough to be a “firewall” for all the colds the kids pass back and forth that time of year.

My daughter has a big gymnastics competition there the weekend of the 14th. A lot of the rooms get blocked out with comp rates- our choices included Coronado, AKL, Sports, and CBR so they are taken out of the "bank" of available rooms.

The cheer/dance/sports events really block out the weekends, esp. at ASSports (like already no availability as soon as they open online booking). I grabbed my room at Pop for next Feb as soon as they went online (yes I know I could have called way before).

And yes, on my Feb 2017 Pop stay, I saw at least 3 different groups of 15s, a co-ed Asian youth tour group, and of course the cheer/dance kids.

All of the above plus -

- BTG pull lots of rooms
- Some rooms out of service for rehab
- As Disney hotel rates go up, many move down in category

My annual trip that time of year is now offsite for all of the above.

So interesting to hear people say February is so crowded. My husband and I (both teachers) enjoy going in February during President’s Day week because the weather is great and I find the crowds more manageable than spring break!

In our experience, they are. Resort occupancy has very little affect on park crowds.

We just booked a trip during the first week of February. Was looking at Values and like others found out, no availability except for AofA. Booked POFQ, it’s a bit more than I wanted to spend, but will be a nice splurge. Fingers crossed that maybe a discount might come out!
