Why are theme park views still priced so high?

I agree with previous posters. Because it is "theme park" view not "fireworks" view. And yes, people will pay for it. Disney knows that. They will give a discount to fill them, if needed.

I should have elaborated more in my first post.

I see it as another data point of WDW testing the waters to see if they can charge the same (or more) and offer less. I'm aware fireworks will come back at some point, but this is just more data for Disney to use as they revamp things.

The pictures of the theme park rooms on the site literally show fireworks being seen from the windows.

I get paying for a "lake view" or "garden view" or even paying to be in the "main tower". Those still offer the same things they did pre-covid.

Maybe I'm looking too much into it.

Everyone is different, but I don’t really book a TPV room for the fireworks. Frankly if I want to watch fireworks I’d rather be somewhere with good audio, and not all TPV rooms have access to quality show sound (some do, some don’t).

It’s for the ability to sit on my balcony at any time looking out over the Seven Seas Lagoon seeing the castle and other major MK icons in the distance. It’s for seeing the ferries and boats criss-cross the water all day. It’s for seeing the monorails whiz by all day. It’s for hearing the ferry horns and hearing the MK Railroad whistle when it’s operating.

Sounds a little pixie-dust induced I admit, but there is literally no other feeling like checking in to your TPV room, pulling back the curtains, and taking it all in. It is quintessential Walt Disney World/Vacation Kingdom kind of stuff.

Very fair answer.

I get it OP. If I was going to splurge on a TPV room, now wouldn't be the time. If enough people are like you and me, the price will come down. Or they'll move a few TPV rooms into whatever available discount is out there. I have a hunch that won't happen though.

Personally, fireworks are a big plus, but I also enjoy being able to sit out on a balcony and enjoy the sights and sounds of the park, especially at night (my theme park rooms have always been at DLR). But there are only so many TPV rooms, and they seem to be staying popular even now.

Plus, when demand for higher cost rooms and resorts is down, Disney's practice is over-sell the lower price rooms and then upgrade guest to fill the leftover "premium" room inventory.

A simplified (fake) example, ... let's say Beach Club has 100 TPV rooms and 200 Pool View. If they have only sold 20 TPV rooms, but have sold out of Pool View, they they'll sell 250 Pool View with the expectation that ~50 guests with accept a free upgrade to TPV.

That way Disney is getting people to book a room, at any cost level, without turning away business, cutting rack rates, or offering a specific discount that people could come to expect in the future.

In our capacity as DVC members with Bay Lake being our home resort, I have never felt BLT should have a Theme Park view as IMO it is a parking lot view. Consequently when we do stay there I try for a pool view, which is sometimes a Lake or Standard view.

Yes. It’s about the sights and sounds for us, especially in the morning. Nothing like enjoying a coffee on the balcony as the sun comes up and everything starts coming to life. I actually prefer to watch fireworks from inside the park even when we have a theme park view.
