I actually don't think she closes threads too too quick. I just think that she has been around the boards enough to sense when things are going to get nasty and tries to prevent it. She is just trying to protect us. Not to mention saving memory space on the dis so that we have room for the good stuff.
thats exactly what i was thinking. surprised it's been open this long. You will see threads closed on this board before you would see it happen on any other board on DIS. I've been on DIS since day 1, it's become very censored and controlled. In some ways that is a good thing, but on this board, you will notice it happens right in the middle of a good discussion. Guess i would not make a good moderator, i would let it go on and on like beating a dead horse, lol.
I started a thread one time about golf cart websites as DH wants to buy one.
Anyway, after the question was asked and answered it turned into a lovely discussion on White Castle hamburgers. No one was nasty.
It is good to have someone watching these threads and keeping things moving. I have been to a few unmoderated message boards over the years. They seem to degenerate into either:
A. A hang-out place for old-timers (not by age of course- not goin' there-too busy bein' polite n stuff). More like length of time on the message board. Newbies generally are not welcome.
B. Troll infested slag contest. Yuck.
IMHO neither is ideal (B is downright ugly though).
I can say that this board (to include the other threads) does a great job of making newbies feel welcome. Even when things get a bit heated, I do not see the "atmospherics" and foul language seen on other sites. Perhaps this is just a Disney thang.
Psst Rhonda. Does this make up for that other thread?
I'm sorry that you both feel that way. Many times a thread is closed very quickly because people are attacking each other, getting sarcastic, etc. You may not have seen those posts because they are deleted as fast as we see them.
It's not our intention to not let you voice your opinion. The problem is that others have voiced their opinions in inappropriate ways, and it ruins it for everyone else.
This thread has run on long enough -- especially since it has nothing to do with Camping or Fort Wilderness.
