Why are some people against the bands?

Listen, with all due respect...are you always this brash? (I have seen your other posts so let me clarify and say that was a rhetorical question and I'm not actually asking for you to explain yourself)

I mean, the first quote is clearly an over-exaggerated argumentitive post that would leave anyone with an opinion that differs from yours to become defensive as you're inferring that they're ridiculous because of that opinion. You are not saying the words "these people are dumb" but it is clearly what you're getting at. We cannot possibly comment on what the other 20 million park visitors are saying, can we? We don't really have their testimonials of how they would like to do things. What we DO have is the responses of those here on the forums, and I think the consensus is that some are excited with the changes, some are not.

I don't understand the need to jump down someone's throat for quoting your response and replying to it. If you don't want that to happen, wouldn't it be silly to post at all? You're stating your opinion, which you are more than entitiled to, and that opinion is also a valid one! However, they are also entitled to use your post as a jumping off point for *their* opinions without being treated as if them quoting your words is a personal attack and they are somehow unreasonable for doing so.

More bees with honey, my friend!
:goodvibes

Annnnnnnnnnnd...curtain.
~I'm not calling anyone dumb & I didn't jump down any ones throat. I respect opposing viewpoints, thank you. Oh, and I love the bracelets, can't wait!

I'd like them to inject the chip into my butt! Then I can back into the parks.......

How exactly are the magic bands on? Do they velcro? Or is the strap more like a watch band?

Someone posted on another thread it would be similar to a watch with holes in it to adjut the size, but at the same time I *think* I read somewhere it would be velcro. I would think velcro would be better but that's just me. I personally would prefer the card instead of the wristband, but not too bothered either way.

:lmao: But then Evil Disney the company that everyone is paying to go to there parks would be able to track you even when you go to the bathroom. You know they have an evil plan with all the information they are collecting but they need to know when you go to the bathroom for it to work. :stir: Maybe they actually use all the information to improve flow in the parks and other thing like that to improve everyone's vacation but no that couldn't be it they are going to use it to take over the world. :rolleyes1

I think the biggest problem with the bands is simply change. People hate change. There are a lot of unknowns at this point.
For me, I'm going to take the wait and see approach. I don't mind wearing a band but I know my hubby is going to gripe about it. He can take it off and put it in his pocket- like the KTTW card. I don't perceive it as having any more security issues than a KTTW card, either.

I thought about that - the ability to take it off and carry it. However it won't fit in a small credit card case that I use at Disney with my Disney charge card and ID. I wouldn't trust it in my pocket on my shorts - they don't button like a man's back pocket or are as deep as their side pockets - and I would be afraid of it popping out with getting in and out of rides. I almost lost my ID that way before I went with the credit card case..

I don't like the system. This is just the beginning of something much bigger and I do not like it. I also don't like wearing things on my wrists. I prefer a card on my person instead of a band literally on my person. :)

We always go to WDW in August so I have the charming sweat issues to deal with. I also tend to lose the cards. Could be I'm doubly screwed but I wouldn't mind trying the wristband. I'll give practically anything a wing once.

I love the idea of the band - as long as it works. And honestly, that's my biggest concern. If everything - and I mean, everything - is now accessed through that band, that means there's some lovely big server somewhere storing all this info. I don't care about privacy issues - I'm worried what happens if/when that server goes down! and I don't doubt it WILL go down, judging from the technical difficulties of their website.

That's when I'll wish I still had that little piece of paper in my hand, telling me to return at a certain time to ride that ride!

What happens when Google's server goes down? One of their many other backed-up servers probably takes the load and the end user is never even aware of the problem.

Didn't Netflix have a server crash around Christmas that was very noticeable to the end users? Not sure if it was their own server or that of a third party. And Blackberry and AOL have periodic problems that are systemic which take their systems off line for a while. I'm not suggesting that Disney will have a big problem, but two things are certain. First, Disney is a high profile company and basement jockeys all over the world will try to hack in (and likely succeed). Second, there will come a time when the system will blip or go down. All systems do. Just not sure what all this will mean for guests.

I dont see anybody calling Disney evil. :rolleyes2
Everybody has different reasons why they are against them, but for me personally, I dont like what this is leading up to. As others eluded to, this is a first step in something much bigger.
