We are planning a trip to WDW in September (I need to change my ticker) so I've been posting questions on the WDW boards and every time it seems someone has something rude to say to me. I just don't get it. I've asked tons of questions here on the DL board and everyone is so nice. I just don't get it....:confused3

Anyone else have this problem?

So thanks all, for being so nice to me here on the DL board and I guess I'll just stick around over here from now on.

I'm so sorry to hear that! I'm sure there are plenty of people here who can answer your questions. I've seen several disers mention their trips to WDW.

I tend to avoid the WDW boards. I think its a case of too many cooks in the kitchen...." Those boards are so much bigger and with that many people you get many contrasting opinions.

I could say it's the old West Coast vs East Coast thing but I don't want to start any fights:hug:

I think the pp maybe right though, there are a lot more people that hang out on the WDW board, after all they get a lot more categories than us, but that's ok!

A lot of us have been to both parks, although it's been a few years since I went to WDW. I loved the Passporter, it answered so many questions and found it an invaluable resource for planning and even while we were there.

We love love love the Passporter. This trip came up so unexpectedly that we are currently using the 07 version and DH has ordered the 08 deluxe. I'm going to send the 07 to my brother in MO so they can use it. It will be their first trip to the World.

What were your favorite places to eat there? We are frantically trying to pick TS restaurants because we are already within the 180 window and it's going to be slim pickings I presume.

Contrasting opinions I could deal with but it's the outright rudeness that gets to me. It's like they look for a way to criticize you.

So here's to my fellow DL Diser's :grouphug:thanks for letting me be me!

I don't think it's just the WDW board. There are many different DL boards out there that I like but I have found that generally the DISboard DL bunch are just an exceptional bunch!

Interesting...Most of my experience with all these Disboards started out with my first trip to WDW and I found most to be very helpful. There is always a difference of opinion, but that was okay with me as long as people realize their opinion does not make mine right or wrong! I get a laugh over the "passion" that some posters have but don't normally take any kind of position, stand or side. What ever the case may be, there is no call for rudeness of any kind. I am sorry that you experienced this type of behavior. I have seen people post questions that are not well thought out or have already been asked in the same thread and some tend to get annoyed by it. I have also seen people annoyed by a good question, because they already know the answer, and gees how come you don't! I however believe there is no such thing as a stupid question! :)

I have had more trips to DL since I live on the west coast and just recently started cruising the DL forums due to my trip next month. It's been 3 years since I've been there, these forums are an excellent source of information.

There are those of us in both the DL forums and WDW forums that love answering questions if we can and sharing our experiences.

WDW -vs- DL? They both have charm, something for everyone and of course, Magic! :wizard:

I don't even lurk over there anymore. The WDW boards scare me :scared: If I ever have questions about other Disney parks, I'll probably just ask here cause I feel more comfortable with my DLR peeps! :goodvibes Good grief, did I just use the word "peeps?" :sad2:

:lmao: :lmao: That's what I was going to say!

I havent been to the WDW boards, but man, stay away from the CB if you cant take a thrashin'! :scared:
MEAN PEOPLE SUCK

I'm sorry you had a bad experience:hug: . I believe I posted on the WDW boards and didn't receive any rudeness. I've only been once but I learned so much before going and then from being there. I'll try my best to answer any questions you might have.

Also disneyworldtrivia.com is a great website. I hope the mods don't mind me posting this but DWT has tons of information as well as cute and interesting trivia.

I hope you find the answers you are looking for!:wizard:

AWW, that is so nice! Welcome! The group over here is awsome! :cheer2: You can ask anything and they will kindly answer. And if they don't know the answer personally themselves, they will try to find it for you. :surfweb: So ask away and they shall answer :rotfl:

Our most resent trip to the World was Oct 06. This is my 2 cents regarding eats at WDW:

Table Service
Loved Le Cellier in Epcot--Cheese Soup and Mushroom Filet were delish!
Loved Ohana in the Poly
Missed Kona in the Poly, but plan to go there next time!
Loved Tepanyaki in Epcot. It has a new name now, not sure what it is.
Crystal Palace in MK--We had ressies for 55 minutes before the park opened. It was a goo breakfast buffet, and the character interaction was good, but the best part was walking into the park before it is open, and having Main St to yourself! We took some great photos. Just be sure to not do this on an EMH morning, or it'll be packed!
Did not love: Concourse Steak House in Contempory or Captain Jacks in DTD. Hated Hollywood and Vine in DS.

Counter Service
We enjoyed Flame Tree BBQ in AK
Loved the peanut butter brownie at Pecos Bill in MK
Loved the Fish and Chips in England in Epcot!

That's all I can think of now. If you have any questions, I'd be happy to help you where I can. I've been to WDW three times, but I am an OCD vacation planner, so I did a ton of research!

I've had some similar experiences on the WDW board. I've been to WDW quite a bit, but not for 4 years, so there are lots of things different, especially now with the dining plan. I'm loving my Passporter as well! It's awesome.

On our last trip there the only character meal we had was Chef Mickey's- which was delightful. At the time DS had severe food allergies and the chef made special things just for him. It was wonderful to have somewhere be so accomodating. (Thank goodness he has outgrown most of them!) We have never done any of the signature dining experiences- were always on a serious budget! I know we enjoyed the Biergarten, San Angel cafe, and Teppanyaki (?) in Epcot. This time around we are planning on Coral Reef, Tusker House in AK for the character breakfast (it has DAISY my favorite!!!!!!!!), and Sci Fi in DHS. A friend of mine has eaten at Sci Fi so many times, she raves about it- so I'm going to try it. Still debating Ohana's, we might do that for breakfast or dinner OOP. I need to get a better handle on my budget before I decide. :scared1:

My ADR's open up next month. I've never made them this early, and only ever made them for character meals before. :confused3 I know it's different now, so I've planned a lot more. I don't have any TS picked for MK- I've only ever done Crystal Palace and I don't want to this time. Any other suggestions? Or good CS?

For your MK day, I'd suggest taking a monorail ride to the Poly for dinner at Kona or Ohana, or a quick boat ride over to the WL for dinner at Whispering Canyon Cafe. We did this, and it was a nice break from the crowds in the park. It's also a good way to check out the resorts!

I had some similar issues on the WDW a time or two also maybe its because they are all grumpy from waiting for buses in the Florida heat :rotfl2:

I did get lucky though and after some time I did find some very helpful folks on the WDW boards.

I wish I could help you with food options but thanks to a change in schedule and way over full bellies thanks to the Food and Wine Festival at Epcot we only made it to one of our ADR's, Victoria and Albert's. We also did Sci-fi cafe if you want to read about those they are in my sig line.

Best of luck to you on your up coming trip!

Sorry about your experience on the WDW boards. I'll tell you our favorites from 2005.
Teppanyaki--Epcot (Japan)--I know you can experience this kind of dinner other places, but it was really fun and good food.

Marakesh--Epcot (Morrocco) We made dessert plans here after dinner at Teppanyaki. Loved the bellydancing and dessert was good. We would have done dinner here, but were afraid the kids wouldn't like the food. FUN!!

La celier--Epcot (Canada)--incredible steaks.

50s Diner--MGM --Home-type food. Mom gets "Mad" if you don't eat your green beans, etc. Fun, especially if someone from that era is in your party.

Drive-in--MGM--Fun, but expensive for fast food quality. We wished we had just done dessert here to experience the place, but without the cost. They had yummy shakes and malts!

Princess meal in the castle--Magic Kingdom--We went before the outrageous price increase. It was good food and fun and neat to be in the castle.

Crystal Palace--MK--great food and great character intereaction. Pooh and friends. Really fun.

Donald's Breakfastasaurus--AK--Best character meal. Super fun with silly gags that the characters did. Good food, but no one ate--too busy playing and dancing!

FORGOT NAME--Animal Kingdom Lodge--Buffet with African food and great selection for kids. YUM!!! And you get to see the animals at the AKL--cool.

The rest of our meals were counter service--avoid Toy Story Pizza-not good.
Avoid Pinnochios--not good. Magic Kingdom doesn't have great food, just expect that and go with something quick. Get a Dole Whip though!

The best food is in Epcot.

Hope this helps.
