Why Are Ouija Boards Sold In Toy Departments?

Frankly, I'm quite amazed by the number of people here who really are freaked out by Ouija boards - I honestly always thought they were a silly game.

So, my question is - if they're this worrisome, why are they sold in toy stores or toy departments of places like Wal-Mart?

Should they be relegated to specialty shops like magic stores or witchcraft stores?

Just wondering your thoughts.

They are sold in toy departments because they are toys. They are just for fun. Anyone who takes them seriously has some issues to work out.

Oiuja boards are for people who are trying to contact the dead, or spirits.
Not a good idea. Opening yourself up to the demon world, is just scary.
I will check my walmart tomorrow. If they sell them, I will buy all of them. And then I will burn them.
Then I will ask the manager to not sell them anymore..... (not that that will work probably!)

I used one once as a teenager...me and a twelve year old were using it after everyone else had fallen asleep at my friend's slumber party. It said (the spirit) that he had died in Texas, and then spelled out Mafia. We then asked how he died. Before we can even finish the sentence, it goes to No, and then spells out female.

So, were sitting there, like, duh, what does it mean, and then it dawns at me that he doesn't want to say because were female. So I say that, and it goes to Yes.

Kinda freaked me out. Never used one again. I know the other girl wasn't moving the thing, either, she just wouldn't have thought to make it say what it did. I'm sure it was real, so for that those boards should be left alone.

Oh, I don't have any issues to work out, DisneyGator. I'm fairly normal.

I used it with my friends...it worked for a while--so on one turn I decided I wouldn't do anything with my hands--and guess what, it didn't move. And I spoiled the fun.

It's a toy....hence the department of choice. I don't think they have an "other realm" department at Wal-Mart
