If you haven't read my other post DH (sarcastic D right now) hurt his knee -can't put his weight on it. It's not the 1st time - although he doesn't seem to recall hurting it even though it was within the past 6 months. We leave for WDW in 2.5 weeks. He refused to schedule (or allow me to schedule) a dr's appt for him. I am concerned that he will do long term damage to himself - not to mention have trouble getting around WDW. Why are men too stubborn to see a doc when they need one?????????? Could it be he is :scared: ????

P.S. Baby isn't really the 1st word that comes to mind but this being a family board, I am restraining myself.

I don't know...they think they're invincible.

My DD(now 13) had knee problems for a while. We went through all the "other stuff"...podiatrist (for orthotic$), physical therapy...hoping to avoid surgery. One of the deciding factors in going ahead with the surgery was our 12 day trip to WDW in August...she was MISERABLE with all the walking she were doing, and so were the rest of us who were with her!! She had the surgery in early October (BOTH knees at the same time), and had I known how WELL it would go (the actual surgery, the recovery, the relief from pain...it was almost a piece of cake!) I would have agonized about it A LOT less. Surgery is a concern...the anesthesia, the recovery, etc; it shouldn't be taken lightly...but living in pain stinks! (Not that your DH will necessarily need surgery.)

We went back to WDW in November, and she was fine. :) The big test will be when she returns to soccer in the next week or so. Altho, I think our trip to WDW was a pretty good test. :)

TELL ME ABOUT IT!!!!!!!

Dh has had a (I think) a sinus infection for over a month. Congested, headaches and worst (for me) snoring like a buzz saw!!! :crazy2: :faint: Doesn't bother him tho, he is sleeping! ARGH! I have been after him for two weeks to go to the doc. He doesn't like his PCP, fine, go to the acute care center, they are even covered under our insurance. But will he....NO! Geesh, I may have to hog tie him and drag him there!

Kind of a related story about men being Big Babies...Six years ago we all had the flu (flu shots for all of us from then on!). Of course dh had it worse than anyone(according to him). Well, he holed himself up in our bedroom and hooked up ds's old baby monitor so that if he needed me he could talk to me thru' the monitor, and not "strain himself"!!!   That lasted all of about ten minutes before he annoyed the you-know-what out of me. Told him to unplug the dang thing or I'd shove it you-know-where!

Why do you think that women are the ones who have the babies? Can you imagine a man in childbirth. I will be the first to admit that I'm a wimp when it comes to pain and suffering.

My DH is the opposite. I had to force him to stay in bed and rest when he had the flu.

My Dh is like that. He ended up with walking pneumonia a few years back. He was just sick as a dog, never complained about it, and we had to force him to the ER.

Of course, he is insufferable when he has a case of the sniffles

MAKE him go to the doctor. He may be damaging the knee beyond repair. MY DH went for years with a bad left knee that would often cause a tremedous pain that he described as feeling like it "popped out of the socket" Well 2 arthroscopic and 1 ACL -MCL rebuild later and he is still looking at more surgeries. He is so upset that he has jepordized the chance to play sports when we have kids someday.

Don't let your DH wait. Go know and at least get some medicine (Vicodin or Motrin) to alleviate the pain or swelling.

My husband is the same way. I just figure that when he hurts badly enough he will go to the doctor. As we have gotten older he had gotten better about seeing a doctor. He doesn't bounce back the way he used to when hurt.;)

I am a RN and I hate going to the MD. ,even though i always tell others to do so.. It is just a male character flaw. on the other hand even female nurses have admited that female patients are a lot more a babyish while in the hospital. A sidenote.. a few years ago iihust my knee at WDW and I thought it was nothing.. when I got home I went to my MD, even though I could walk ok. and he knew it was bad.. Then, I went to my orthopod and a MRI I had a torn my medial cartilige and a completlety torn ACL.. and I thought it was minor. Your Dh should go to see a orthopod ASAP.

:o I'm a woman and I'm the same way. I don't see a doc unless I think I'm dying or unless someone nags me into going.;)

I'm the same way, never go to a doctor. Well when DW found out I went to the doctor for the flu, she new I was really in bad shape. She felt so sorry for me of course I didn't know this because I was so sick. I've never had anything hit me so hard and fast. Two weeks later and I'm still not 100%.
