My sister took my kids out yesterday. My phone rang and showed my sister was calling from her cell phone, so of course I am panicked that something is wrong and it is my ds7 who proceeds to tell me that he thaught I was in my 40's (I am 26) You can hear my sister in the backround laughing.
I can't believe my son put 20 years on me! Most people think I look younger then I am and I always thaught I would be the cool young mom, well apparently not. My kids think I am OLD like I always thaught my parents were old!

:rotfl2: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

You have to TRAIN them...lol. Tell them, mommy looks young..mommy looks beautiful and pretty soon they'll start telling you it back!

I always thought my parents were old, lol.

Not all of them are mean, my dd told me she thought I was 16!!! Of course she was four at the time and that did seem old. She called 10 year olds teenagers at the time too.

I need to send my ds to your house for awhile you seem to train them right!

That's about the right age for them. :teeth: My son was in 1st grade and I was helping out in class one day. One of the girls said something about her mom's age. I snickered under my breath. And the teacher said...I'm sure your mom would just love to hear you say that! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I've always told my son that I'm a certain age...six years younger than I really am. :thumbsup2 And one year he even repeated a year, so now I'm 7 years younger!!!!!! :cool1:

My ds kindergarten teacher polls them every week on a subject (what is something with an Exit sign, what is fluffy, etc). Last week, she asked them how old she is (it was her birthday). Well, she asked for it, haha...the median guess was like 82 years old. I bet she never does that again!

PS...she is like 40!

I turn it around on them, yes I am old and yes I am mean, now go finish cleaning your room

I just turned 40 and have decided that 60 is the new 40, no reason to panic got many years to go.....I remember having this thought in my mid 20's...... :teeth:

When DS was younger he had us living in a retirement home by the time we would be 30 :rotfl:

Out of the mouths of babes........ :goodvibes

When they are that young, they aren't being mean, they just don't have the concept of age. They are brutally honest at this age and I think deep down they want to be nice. My dd told me once while I was dressing that "it was OK mommy, your not that fat." :rotfl2: She was so sincere, I couldn't get mad at her she was just repeating what she has heard me say so many times. it was very funny :rotfl:

Don't take what your little kids say to heart. They are too innocent to be truly mean.

My DM has lied about her age for so long that she truly has to figure it out when she needs to real one. She has decided that she likes the number 36 and she's sticking with it. Of course, being that her youngest child is now 38 she introduces us as her DH's children from his first marriage. This is pretty funny since they started dating at the age of 15. They are now 66. Ssshhh don't tell my DM. :rolleyes1

I'll never forget the very first parent-teacher open house my parents attended. The teacher kept saying over and over how *relieved* she was to meet them. Mom said it was getting a little bizarre the way the teacher kept staring at them and going on and on. Well, turns out this was her first teaching job and she was a bit naive. I'd told the teacher (very young herself) my mom was 31 years old and that dad was 19! She believed it!!! That would have made him 14 when I was born. Anyway, she really was relieved to see dad was obviously not that young (33 at the time) and that this particular family didn't need social services contacted. :teeth:

I got a stern talking to after this conference and told never to discuss their ages or any personal info with *anyone* ever again! I snickered over this and decided to "fix" them! (And I did for the next 19 years!)

I kept telling my kids that I was 27, 28 and finally 29 when I was 34-36. One day we were looking at old pictures and stumbled across a picture of me in front of a cake with a "28" on it. My DS says "that was last year! Wait? That was in the old house we haven't been there in years!! MOM!!!"
OOPs! we all had a great laugh and now they know the real older me!

I guess im lucky. My kid isn't mean. In fact, the sweetpea is the opposite. She tells me Im thin, pretty, and the best. But truth be told, im the keeper of her allowence so Im sure that helps.

Not too long ago, my DS (teenager) asked me how old a friend of mine was, so I told him we were the same age. He said, "She just looks so much older than you!" She really doesn't, but it made me feel good. Of course, he added afterwards, "But you're still old too."

:lmao:

Now when I was growing up, my parents WERE old. They were in their 30s when they adopted me and both of my parents were "elderly" before their time, if you know the kind of people I mean. One of my uncles even told me that my mother was an old woman as a teenager. I'm trying to be a much younger-in-spirit mother than my mom ever was.

Because we are the oldest parents in my DDs class, she knows to stoke us and tell us that we don't look as old as we really are!!

When my son was in 5th grade( I was 30 adn hubby was 31) we went to his band concert. He told me afterward that he was embarassed that his parents were so young. Hubby got carded in a liquor store at 35 yr. Well, needless to say, we have aged and don't get carrded anymore. Son is a registered nurse now.

I had my sons at 17 and 19. When my youngest son was in middle school, his homework was to talk to your parents about where they were when President Kennedy was shot and killed. Well, I wasn't even born yet. So of course, he goes to school the next day and gets in trouble. The teacher told him didn't do the homework because that just couldn't be right. I had to write a letter to the teacher telling her that.
