I've been watching the attraction wait times at all the parks and they seem extra long. Anyone have any idea why? Thanks

Have you been looking at MDE or Lines App? MDE has been mostly inaccurate, inflated. Wait times haven't looked too bad over the last week or so, better than they were a couple weeks ago.

It's still "Peak Summer" season for another week (Disney's "Summer 2" rack rates end on Aug. 19), and with all hotels at high occupancy (and many full) for late Summer, Fall and early Winter, I think people better just brace themselves for higher than normal crowds the rest of this year.

But, I am also not seeing "extra long" lines. MDE says 60 minutes for Peter Pan and 65 minutes for Space Mountian (TP Lines app says 32 minutes for PP; 38 for SM). Over at AK, FOP is 75 min in MDE/61 mins in TP Lines. I'm not sure what people are expecting, waiting in line is rarely fun, but these aren't above average waits, if anything, they seem below average for a weekend in early August.

Touring Plans' Lines App is way more accurate. We pretty much abandoned the MDE wait times part of that app last week when we were there. Not sure why they can't figure it out, but whatever. I'm glad there is an alternative.

Real wait times were significantly less than MDE. The last hour or two many things were walk ons. In general, headliners were at least 30 min less and lesser attractions about 15 minutes less. Most lines look insanely long but move quickly. The parks are packed though!

I would guess many reasons:
Many more are traveling.
Many shows, parades, etc that absorb a lot of people have not opened yet.
WDW is still short on CMs, so I would guess that rides are not running at their full capacity.

Attractions seemed to be at full capacity last week, so I think that part has significantly approved. I believe the biggest impact on lines is the people eaters attractions (shows, character meet and greets, parades, etc).

Character meets used to take up a large amount of queues and fastpasses, and they aren't going on right now.

Dont go by the Disney posted times, they are being artificially inflated.

Although that's what I hoped. every line I was in last month was at most 5 minutes off. Wish I knew why! The lines were incredibly long-3 hours for FoP, 75 minutes for Splash Mountain, 1/2 hour after opening.

Good to know. When we were there, they were not running the normal number of vehicles per ride.
