Why am I not that excited about 7 Dwarfs ride?

Really???

That doesn't mean that 'every' ride in 'Fantasyland' will thrill every adult! :confused3 It isn't meant to be that way. Does Space Mtn. thrill and excite a 2-3 year old?

True, some rides in every park can excite all ages to a degree, but not all rides in each park.

It doesn't have to be a thrill ride to excite me as an adult. Given how much I love Little Mermaid, I would have been very happy with a well done dark ride. It's not as if I hate the ride, but I don't think it is up to Disney standards either. Many of the older dark rides were done better, even if they have older technology. If Disney had met the same standard they created with their earlier dark rides, I would have been quite happy. No thrill needed.

You 'do' have to remember it's in Fantasyland with families with small children in mind when it was designed. I see no reason why adults should be way hyped about it. I'm not a great thrill ride person so I am very excited about the new Dwarf's ride. I can't see it even being on the same scale as thunder mountain. I will be 'very' disappointed if it's not very family and young children oriented. There should not be anything in that land that young children cannot ride.
There will always be those who aren't happy. I think it looks like a great ride. Then again, I like the Little Mermaid too, so I'm sure I will be called an apologist, lol.

From WDWMagic...

Everyone has been asking about ride duration, and today gave us a chance to do some timings on this. Based on today's commercial shoot, which we have to assume has the ride running at its intended operational pace, the ride looks to be somewhere in the region of just under 2 minutes long. We timed just over a minute for the indoor show scene inside the mountain, and around 20 to 30 seconds each for the two exterior portions of the ride. This puts the total ride duration somewhere in the region of just under 2 minutes

So if you take into account the second (bigger) lift hill that means the inside scene last about 20 - 30 seconds. JUST like I said FOREVER ago and even made a diagram to back it up. So, yeah. Enjoy your "dark ride" section. :rotfl:

Wow. You have to be kidding me. 30 seconds...a two minute ride? Wow! Can you imagine the waits for this from now until....forever. Ugh. :headache:

I see so many threads of people complaining that Disney is no longer what it used to be, they need to add new attractions, they need to add new shows, they need to add new parades, they need to update what they have and get with the times. Then when Disney does add something, there are threads of people complaining that it is too short, not thrilling enough, not new technology, boring, not as good as what was replaced. I for one am excited for anything new. I also never get disappointed by anything there, because it is always better then the alternative, being home and at work. You are on vacation. Enjoy what time you have there and quit being so negative. If SDMT does not meet your expectations, then it is probably you, not the attraction, that has problems, because you should have no expectations. If you do not enjoy it, do t ride it.

Well obviously this is about the children! You're at Disney World, in Fantasyland no less, how could you possibly expect a ride to last more than 2 minutes after they've spent years building it? Some people have ridiculous expectations.

!?!?!?!?!!?!?!?!????????? :confused3

If you go to a restaurant and order the steak and you don't like it ... its probably you, you should have no expectations.

When you purchase a car and its not as fast as you'd like, its probably you, you shouldn't have expectations.

When go on a cruise, if the boat sinks and you are disappointed, its probably you, you shouldn't have any expectations.

When a company spends 10s of millions of dollars on an attraction that they hype the hell out of toting how awesome its going to be, and then it falls below your expectations, its probably you, it has nothing to do with the attraction I am sure.

LOL.

Yeah, like this should have been opened 6 or 7 months ago and that it would be a Potter Swatter. :lmao:

Is it your 10s of millions of dollars ??? No. It is Disneys, and I am sure that some of that money went into what kind of attraction they felt was needed, an approximate ride duration time, and the technology used. All this happens years in advance of even breaking ground. Through guest polls, and online questionnaires, they figure out what would be a good reliable fit, and go from there. Once it is built, Disney could care less if it meets your expectations, because quite frankly, it is not going anywhere, it is what it is. So yes, your expectations do not matter, you either enjoy it or you don't.

Is the Disney you speak of the same Disney that developed MM+ so that they could make the FP part of it more fair based on guest feedback or the Disney that created it to data mine?

The Disney I know originally had a Princess M&G planned where the Mine Train stands but because people *****ed about NFL being too girly already, they switched it out to the Mine Train. Apparently Disney isn't very competent in deciphering "guest feedback". Avatar proves it even more (sorry Shaden ;))

You are so right, I don't know why I didn't see the light before. I should never have expectations for my vacation, especially a WDW vacation. I should just be happy I'm not home or at work. Thank you, I think your words have truly changed my life. :thumbsup2

It's not just fans who have high expectations for this ride. I mentioned before that Touring Plans is touting it as an E-ticket attraction on the same scale as Pirates and Thunder Mt. and now CNN is listing it as one of this year's most "insane" coasters:

http://www.cnn.com/2014/04/21/travel/best-usa-new-roller-coasters/

OK, I'm still snickering at 7DMT being listed under the heading of "insane coasters". But even CNN admits its just a kids coaster. I'll still wait until the thing is actually running, and have had a chance to experience it for myself before writing it off. I must admit I was a little disappointed to hear it was only a 2 minute ride.

Un-huh.
Great reporting from CNN-

The coaster has somehow moved to Adventureland in Walk Disney World.

(This is a cut-and-paste, by the way.)

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train

Walk Disney World, Lake Buena Vista, Florida

You might be tempted to sniff at the stats (it IS, after all, an all-ages coaster), but this new steel coaster at Disney World's Adventureland does a lot more than defy Newton's laws.
According to Disney Imagineer Dave Minichiello, the ride's creative director, this roller coaster-plus has music and interactive elements, goes outside through a forest and inside through the dwarf's mine and is unlike any ride Disney World has ever seen. disneyworld.disney.go.com
Bells and whistles:
Vultures: 2
Dwarfs: 7
Jewels: Diamonds, emeralds, rubies and more
Insanity: The car's platform rocks back and forth.

"Insane" is a ridiculous statement considering the coasters on that list!:lmao:

1. Goliath - Six Flags Great America -it breaks 3 world records for wooden coasters

http://youtu.be/6f9fuax94rA

2. Banshee - Kings Island - World's longest inverted coaster

http://youtu.be/yOTgWr0J1Bw

3. Verruckt - Schlitterbahn Water Park in Kansas City - NOT a coaster but IS the tallest water slide in the world

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=e87_1390843340

4. El Loco - Las Vegas

http://youtu.be/n8ZDIF-Ni90

5. The Thunderbolt at Luna Park in Coney Island - basically Rip Ride Rockit from Universal but not as "insane"

http://youtu.be/Bv7EipRSyXs

6. Flying Turns - Knoebels - a semi-trackless roller coaster

http://youtu.be/ULlFrNGatPg

7. Firechaser Express - Dollywood

http://youtu.be/h7MZ0ti2Gk8

8. Lighting Run - Kentucky Kingdom

http://youtu.be/Fr03bkeHRWw

9. 7 Dwarfs Mine Train (Musical Ride...per the article). And please show me where the "swinging cars" are all that noticeable...:confused3.

http://youtu.be/aQkoTcFZlQw

10. Roar-O-Saurus - Story Land (notice the impressive real rock work;))

http://youtu.be/wSM_xuMY8fY

So, yeah. To be on a list of the most "insane new US Coasters of 2014" is absurd. :lmao:

You're all wrong. You didn't realize the trains going in and out of the dark ride section weren't the same one. It actually goes down, deep into the mines, and is about 2:30 long, just in the dark ride section!

Oh, and you didn't include the waterfall time. That's at least 2-3 more seconds.

I am pretty sure the waterfall is just for people walking up to BOG to have something to look at. It will distract them from that terrible forced perspective castle ;)

I'm excited for 7DMT, but "insane" is not a word I'd use to describe it. LOL

I am looking forward to giving it a whirl as well, but yea I was hoping for more, of course we have known for some time now this wouldn't really be a "big" ride, but its still something new and cool ... at least for the first ride or two.

Disappointing as the capstone of their $400 Million FL2 expansion, yea, more than a bit.

But I am really just here because someone literally tried to tell people who spend thousands of dollars on their vacations that they "shouldn't have expectations" !?!?!?
