Why all the Croc lovin'?

I have arthritis in my legs, hips, back, and feet. Last summer I went to DL in my New Balance runners. My feet were sore by the end of the day- but the next morning, I literally couldn't get out of bed. I was horrified. Now, DH has sworn by Crocs for years, and told me to get some. So on our next visit, my first stop was at the Emporium where I got some hot pink Mickey crocs!

And not only were my feet not sore- the next day, I felt like any other day! I was SOLD. So now, they're pretty much all I'll wear to DL. No, I'm not a fan of the "look" of the Beach crocs- but man, if they can keep me going until midnight, so be it!

Now I want to get some mary janes for regular use, and another pair- maybe the Caymans? I know there's a Crocs store in Santa Monica, but I don't get over there very often. Where else can I buy mary janes besides online? I'd like to try them on first since they are a little different fit.

I got my Mary Janes at Nordstrom . . . . .

That's what I figure Bumbershoot, I'll go to the sporting good store that says they sell them and wander around their store in them for a bit. Hopefully that'll give me some idea if they are going to work for my chubby little hobbit feet (minus the fur).

Hey, wondering how long your guys crocs last you? I got mine last June and the little nubs seems to have worn quite a bit. Wondering if maybe I should get myself some new Mickey ones when I'm there.

Something else I liked about them....aside from being antibacterial and oober comfortable...they are dishwasher safe!! I also recall hearing that they are made of recycled material and/or biodegradable as well.

I'm very glad you already knew that. There are some people who hear all the raves, but then they don't work for their feet, and it's a real letdown! I always feel bad for those people.

Please be careful with what you say, by the way...take it from someone who used to have a tag that went something like "I have obnoxious toe hair"...:rotfl:

I gave in and bought the Disney Beach Crocs for my upcoming trip in September. They are really cute--pink with white straps and mickey holes. I know there was some discussion of the bigness of the original Crocs, but I got a good deal at Shoebuy for $27.50 and they have a free shipping return policy, so even though I have big feet (size 10 women's), I figure if they look hideous on me or are not comfy, I'll just return them--I plan on wearing them around the house everyday to get used to them. Plus, it's Disneyland. I'm not there to impress anyone, just to be comfy (it will go with my Beauty and Cinderella shirts and I'm 25--as of Sunday...:thumbsup2 ).

Anyway, thanks for convincing me. I'm sure I will not be disappointed.

Wonder if it's your foot shape that determines how comfy they are? I'm hearing a lot of "wide, flat feet" comments here.

I've never tried them, I'll have to do that. Gonna check my local Costco. But I have real high arches that tend to spasm without support (part of the whole plantar fascietis deal, the podiatrist kindly informed me), and I pronate pretty bad. (When my heeled shoes sit lined up in the closet, they are all leaning away from each other 'cause I wore down the outside edge of the soles!)

Gee, I would think that your feet would get all sweaty and stinky in plastic shoes like that. Hm, are the fake brands as good?

:boat:

My Mom has a pretty good arch and they didn't work out for her. So I do think that might have something to do with it, especially the wide Beach kind.

My feet do get sweaty, but NOT stinky. (oh buddha, please let the tag fairy be sleeping)

I feel like I'm borderline about being able to wear them. They are supposed to not touch your foot at all, other than the soles of the feet. With my feet they do touch in the maryjanes (and if I recall correctly, the Caymans too), so they don't officially fit. But they are so comfy that I figure it's OK.

Sounded pretty dumb, didn't it? :rotfl:

I'm so stressed about moving and getting on a plane on Thursday for a trip we would have canceled if we used Southwest...I'm saying not-so-bright things that make no sense (or exact, obvious, definitive sense about growing pains, I guess) all over the place! :scared:

I can't say I didn't giggle a little when I read it. :flower3:

I would also think they would slosh around on your feet if they're not snug. I hate shoes that slip off my heel, would these drive me crazy?

:scared1: Thanks for the tip about watching my phraseology! So much to learn...

Ok, I keep seeing Crocs mentioned in threads and many great things said about them. My question is why are they so loved? :confused3 They look plastic and...large. Are they better and more comfortable then a sport sandal?

I'd love to read folks' opinions. :surfweb:

NO IMO. I am a KEEN lover. I have some Crocs and I will say they have a place in my life, (ie Yard work!) I would never wear them to DL all day. Not nearly enough arch support. Stick with a real shoe.

There are not supposed to be any "pressure points" so if there are they are too small. I wear a size smaller in the flip flop than I do in the normal ugly ones, plus I keep arch supports in them and they are pretty comfortable FOR YARD WORK.

I thought the same thing, but no. :confused3 Sometimes I wear them with the strap in back (and they don't slip off...) and sometimes with the strap in front. I have a narrow heel and so hate shoes that slip, but oddly, these don't. Another reason I was sure I would hate Crocs.

I'm having a hard time seeing how sweaty feet in a plastic shoe could be comfortable? :confused3 Do y'all wear crocs bare foot or with socks? For those who wear them with orthortics, how do you prevent the orthotics from slipping out?

I have the same problem as you with high arches and if I don't get good support, my heels kill me. I remember seeing a simillar thread and there were shoes like crocs that had better arch support. I can't remember what they were but maybe somebody else will.

Add me to the list of people that can't wear Crocs. If my shoes don't have really good arch support I can't move the next day. Wearing different shoes each day works best for me. Not sure why, but that makes my feet much happier. Sore feet and Disney don't mix well.
