I am not sure where I could post this... Moderator please move my thread to the Resort if need be... THANKS!

I am just curious as to how many DISers will be at WDW during Christmas and NYE? And where are you staying... and if I may ask how much is your resort rate.

I'm considering on going during Christmas through NYE. I want to treat my parents. My dad has never been to Disney and my mom only once and that was many years ago. I am thinking of POR because there are 5 of us. And deluxe is just out of the question. Then BC for Jan 1-3. It's the value season and I can get AAA discount.

So anyone going to be there? And where... and the cost of the room? THANKS!

:wave2:

We'll be there too. Taking my dad also - we were there briefly in February 2001 and he met us down there and spent a few days with us but otherwise it's been since 1978 since he's been there for an extended amount of time and I'm so excited to take him!!!!!

We are DVC members so it's costing us nothing for the room. Now if we could only find a flight that would be reasonable so we didn't have to drive but we'll see.

Did I say I can't wait!!!!!! :)

That's great...no cost factor there. Where are you driving from? I'm from Michigan and I am thinking of driving too. I am the only sole driver. My dad doesn't do long driving. He is in his mid 80s and it's hard for him to drive now. My mom doesn't drive. And certainly my two children can't drive. Buying air tickets are going to be expensive... so I am thinking of driving. I don't know how well it's going to turn out. Thanks for sharing.

Anyone else going during the Holiday?

Yup!! :wave2: The 25th thru the 30th, staying in a FW cabin. We'll be driving from CT. :earsboy:

21st to Jan 2nd - Off site, AKL, DCL Eastern, SOG

Mom's driving down from NJ, she'll stop around Santee SC. I've stopped mid-trip and driven straight thru and I prefer stopping. Clark's has cost us $50 to $65 per room for 1 night depedning on what discount we use. AARP offers the best price at Clark's. But CALL AHEAD if you plan on using a layover hotel. The nice one's do sell out.

I have two 17yo girls and me flying down. My best cost for airfare right now is 151 per person for Phila to MCO if we leave Dec 21 return on Jan 3rd. Off days cost less-I may need to extend by one day - it's about $50 more if we come home on the 2nd.

Staying at POR for 119.00 from Dec. 17th to 27th. Not going any where near the parks after the 25th. Staying at our resort or going off property. Too crowded.

Only us going during Christmas? WOW! I'm surprise!

We're taking the autotrain. Arriving 24th and leaving the 1st, staying in our off-site time share. (Washer/dryer, 2BR, 2 Ba -- wouldn't trade it!!) We've been the for NYE but never Christmas. Can't wait, and we just got back a week ago from two weeks in Orlando. Can't get enought Mickey! I love my first AP!

I'll be there then. We are staying at the Beach Club Villas from 21st December - 2nd January. We are staying using our friends DVC points so accomodation has cost us nothing. However we have paid their air fair from England (4 adult tickets direct from London to Orlando at Chrstmas = OUCH!!)

Well, we are going to be there on Christmas, but not New Year's. We'll be there Dec. 18th-26th at POFQ. Got a AAA discount rate of $119 (and some change). We're doing MVMCP on the 18th. My birthday is the 23rd.

Karen.. that's wonderful! You get to celebrate your bday at Disney! I love being at Disney on my bday! It just makes my day even more special.

Wow... sounds like not a lot of DISers will be there. That's great for us! Maybe MK won't be too overly crowded! Wishful thinking... :)

We will be there from Dec 30th thru Jan 9th as our kids get 2 weeks off over the holidays. We want to be home for Xmas and then leave right after.
We also will be driving the 20 plus hours (our first time driving!!!) and will be leaving home on the 28th of December.
We are staying at Pop Century as we couldn't find space anywhere else.
We booked 2 separate reservations so we wouldn't have to pay the high price for the entire 8 nights....2 nights at high season $139 and 6 nights at low season $79

However....hubby and I were discussing this today and we may move to a deluxe property when (and if) Disney reduces their rates for January. Usually they put out lower rates in the fall for January so we are going to keep our fingers crossed.

Hope that you have a great vacation.

You couldn't pay us enough to go there over the Christmas and New Years holiday. However we go every Christmas season, any time after the Sunday after Thanksgiving, to the week before Christmas, and we see the same shows, the same decorations, and the same everything EXCEPT the outrageous crowds. :crowded:

Hope you can get a reservation. We will be there on Christmas but not New Years'.

Staying from 12/25 throu 1/8. Staying offsite in a great house in WP from 12/25 until 1/6 and then using points for 2 days at VWL. The entire trip is a surprise Christmas present for the kids. :sunny:

I wish I could take my kids out of school, so we can do disney before Christmas.. but unfortunately that is not an option. My son told me he doesn't want to miss a day of school for vacation. He doesn't like the make up work (the make up work is given upon returning). Sooo... I am stuck between Xmas and NYE.

I can't take my parents during summer. They are old and they can't handle the heat. I don't want to chance the heat stroke. I could do it Easter/my Bday... but this trip is supposedly their Christmas present.

MAN! The rate is waaay high! I want to do two values... but I think I am better off with two resorts at POFQ. My dad may need the fridge for his medication and my mom might need it too. I know I need it coz I like coming back to our room and our cold drinks are there waiting.

I don't really want to do off-site... but who knows... we'll see... Thanks for replying guys! Anyone else going during the Holiday? :)

I'll be at the BWI from December 26 - January 1. I can't wait!!!

Hi Telly...Holy Mackerel! Are you trying to set a record for most trips to WDW (longer than a 1,000 miles travel) in one year? :earseek: You go girl!
We are not going this Christmas but spent the last one at WL ($121 night WV) splitstay at the Dolphin ($129 Lakeview, but comp upgrade to resort balcony view :cool1: )
The year before that we stayed 3 nights at the Dolphin (12/21,22,23) and did not do the parks, at $99 a night. We were traveling further south to visit family and just took in the atmosphere and did free things...it was great!
You can't beat the location of the Epcot resorts at the Holidays...if the Friendship boats are too full you can walk back to your hotel from Epcot and MGM or the Boardwalk.
Have agreat time planning...AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!! ;)
