We watched the ship turn around and basically back into the dock, well not literally, but you were there you all know what I mean. From our stateroom verandah we could see the men on the dock with the ropes to secure the ship. At one point we saw 7 men pulling the rope to the other side of the dock and securing it on the post. If you did not get a chance to walk deck 4 make sure you do on your next cruise. The ropes that they use are huge. You should be able to see it in one of my previous posts pics.
So now that we were docked, we showered and headed up to the buffet for breakfast. The food was pretty good. We must have gotten their at the right time as everything was hot.
Since we had already toured Nassau we decided to stay on the ship and head to the pool later that morning. I sat in the shallow area of the pool and hubby sat on the teak bench...the hot tubs were full so we chatted about the ride down and our first day and that we both did not want to eat to much for fear that our stomachs would react and not in a nice way. I know, cruises are for indulging on all the great food...but under the circumstances we opted out. We swam in the pool for a while until the sunscreen wore off, time for me to get out and find the shade!
Later that afternoon we went to the DVC meeting, in which hubby did not really want to go because we had done it so many times before..but we had an hour before our next thing to do so what the heck...we sat in the back of the room and listened to the sales pitch, which we could have said ourselves since we are already owners. They gave away prizes for those that answered first and my second sprinkle of pixie dust had arrived...Question was: How much did it cost to stay at the Contemporary Resort when it first opened in 1971?? I answered $29 per night, but the correct answer was $33 per night...I won a softsided cooler bag with the DVC logo...Then at the end of the sales presentation they had a drawing for a $300 onboard credit...and here comes PIXIE DUST AGAIN! Yup, they called my name...I was so excited... Since we are owners the sales rep asked if we wanted to say anything so I stood up and told those who were interested about our first DVC purchase and how we have used our DVC points and what the virtual cost of our trips over the last 10 years would have cost us...
If anyone is interested in how DVC works and you dont want to talk to a sales person right now feel free to PM me. I will try to answer your questions.
So now it was dinner time and we opted for room service...our DD had ordered room service 2 yrs ago while we went to Palo's and she seemed to enjoy it so we decided to give it a try...we placed our order and they said it would be delivered in about 20 minutes so hubby went to take a shower. I thought I would head up to deck 9 to get our sodas but within 10 minutes there was a knock on the door..room service had arrived...so I told hubby to stay in the bathroom and I let the CM in...he placed the food on the table and after I tipped him and he left I went to get the sodas. Love those little salt & pepper shakers!
Lets just say that when we were finished and placed the tray outside our stateroom door there were a few things missing...oops...
Along the way I saw a the most well behaved four legged friend on the ship.
We saw this service dog and their human counterparts a few times on the cruise...I think their stateroom was down the hall from ours because we saw them more than once.
Ever wonder where the dog does his bathroom duty...well there is a disser who has a service dog, and this may be her/him, who has posted pics on the boards about this topic...
DCL provides a small kids size pool and puts sod in it...pretty neat idea.
BTW each time we went to our stateroom we always saw our stateroom hostess, Sylvette, from the Caribbean.
No matter what time is was, 6am, noon or 11pm she was always working. We conversed with her on several occasions and she has been working with DCL for 9 years. Gotta love ya job for 9 yrs! She said she gets about 4.5 hrs of sleep a night. She did have a 3 hr break today and actually got off the ship to have lunch in Nassau.
We also checked out our fishextender each time we returned to our stateroom...
We received our first gifts from our dis friends from Argentina...Thank you for the key chains.
Once we headed out of Nassau we went to the Walt Disney theatre to see Toy Story..this was a first for us as we had seen Hercules, the Museical in past cruises. I loved Toy Story. I was amazed at the size of the toys, Mr Potato Head and the remote control car and the all the toys. I thought they did a great job in telling the story in 45 minutes. The cast was very good too.
Now it was time to go shopping. We created a list of what we were interested in purchasing along with the cost. The onboard credit could be used for anything that you put on your key to the world card..drinks, shore excursions, etc. But this was to be a relaxing cruise for us and we did not plan any shore excursions, been there, done that in Nassau! We did get some nice gift for our kids and grand-daughter.
It was getting close to midnight at this point and we needed to make another round delivering our gifts...so off to our stateroom and who do we run into, Sylvette! Doesn't that girl ever sleep??
more pics to come....
