Who's sailing April 18-22, 2004 - gotta start this sometime!!

So, there are so many posts to this thread now, I lost count. WHO is going to be atthe Raddison Saturday night besides my family? If you are there before 5PM, would you be interested in meeting to send the Magic off?

Roll call for Saturday Raddison.

Disneyfan - Where is Hanson? Is it on the south shore? I ended up moving to where I grew up as well two years ago. I lived in Beverly for about 15 years and "came home" to Swampscott two years ago. There's something about living where you grew up that gives you a warm cozy feeling :) :) I also love that my kids go to the same schools that I went to.

Well I couldn't take it anymore so yesterday I called Expedia. They said that Disney sends them the documents and then they in turn send them to me. I wasn't sure about this since I had heard different things depending on what TA everyone uses. Anyway, they haven't received them yet from Disney so that's why I don't have them yet. Most likely it is due to the fact that I don't have a room assigned to me yet. I'm going to try not to think about it for another week or so.

We're staying at Disney for two days before the cruise so we're not one of the people at the Radisson. I'm now wishing we had booked our stay at the Holiday Inn Family Suites at Lake Bueno Vista after reading so many good things about it, but I'm sure where we are will be just fine. Since we'll be at Downtown Disney I'm considering taking the kids to the Cirque de Soleil (sp?) but not sure if they'd like it or not. My mom thinks they would but I've never been myself so I can't really tell. I was just going to have us hang out at the hotel the first day since we'll most certainly be pooped from our trip. We leave at 7am from Boston and arrive at Detroit at 9:30am. Then leave Detroit at 10:30am and arrive at Tampa at 12:30pm. Then I drive from Tampa to Orlando which should take about an hour or so I guess. I know I will need a nap and some lunch after all that!

I was contemplating having Emily's sleepover party on Good Friday instead of the prior Saturday since that will be back to back sleepovers for the kids. I'm hesitant because of the obvious but now I'm thinking..........do you think people would really mind? There's actually only one other kid who is Catholic and I know her parents aren't too strict. I guess it's so ingrained in me that you can't have fun on that day that I don't know if I could do it but now people are looking for dispensation for having a hotdog at Fenway on opening day so I'm like if they can go to a Red Sox game why can't my daughter have a sleepover party....

Ok I should start my day. Spent yesterday painting my bathroom and I'm out of energy today. Have to go buy some new towels, shower curtain, etc. so it's basically the fun stuff I have left to do.

ciao!

goofy601- Congrats on your docs. There's a lot to fill out there, especially for a family of six!

bostonlass- We took the kids to see Cirque du Soleil (Mystere) while we were in Las Vegas with the kids a couple of years ago. We were in the second row and a lot of the action took place over our heads. It was awesome. It is hard to explain it, though. I don't know if it is PBS, or some channel like that, but there are different presentations of Cirque du Soleil on tv fairly often so that might help you. My kids were 11 and 9 at the time and loved it. It is expensive so I guess you'd have to decide where your money would be best spent.

We will be staying at the Hard Rock Hotel the two nights prior to the cruise. The Magic send off sounds like fun. Hope those of you who make it have a great time.

DVClady- Hope your son is better soon!

It's almost April!!!!!

We will also be staying at the Radisson & will be there to see the Magic sail. We were thinking of eating at Grill's which is a restaurant on the channel where the Magic sails through to get to sea. The link is: www.visitgrills.com

See you all soon!

We received our travel packet yesterday, including a copy of the fax from disney to the TA with confimation details. TA said documents won't arrive until 2 weeks before (which has been typical in our past experience). Funny how this varies here! After looking at the deck layout, I'm wondering about location of Scoops for those DCL verterans here - does it open to the deck, or inside in the corridor?? I'm sure we will want to be outside on deck as the sailaway party gets going as we meet up. Any thoughts?

Bostonlass - I've heard Cirque du Soleil is amazing and worth every penny. I would be surprised if tickets are still available! We opted to skip it, as there are so many other nighttime options between Wishes, Spectromagic, and Fantasmic (we've got the dinner package reserved for this). FYI, I just heard that Cirque is coming to Suffolk Downs soon (I think July). I believe tickets just went on sale, and I know they discount for kids. You might want to check it out if the Disney show doesn't work out! Where are you staying? We will be at Animal Kingdom Lodge wed-sun before we sail.

thebets - We're staying at the Holiday Inn in Downtown Disney. On Saturday we're going to breakfast at Cinderella's castle, spending the day at the Magic Kingdom and then that night going to O'Hana's for dinner at the Polynesian....hopefully I timed the reservation correctly so that we can see wishes from out the window of the restaurant.

Anyway, I was just looking for something to fill the time the day before. We'll probably get to the hotel at around 3ish and I was originally planning on just keeping it low key and hanging at the pool and the hotel the rest of the night, but from what I've read the pool isn't that great at that hotel. It might not matter though since my kids could really care less about the niceties of a pool...they just want to swim and have fun. Because we'll be at Downtown Disney I figured we could do something there to kill some time so I think what I'll do to conserve $$ is just swim for a while and then walk around DTD to get us in the Disney spirit.

We're going to get between 4 to 8 inches of snow between tonight and tomorrow!!! I doubt they'll be school tomorrow. I'm sooo ready for this trip and for spring in general.

Does anyone know if it costs to park at the Magic Kingdom? Originally I was going to have us take the shuttle but I do like the freedom of coming and going as I please.

ciao

Got our Docs!:bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Woo Hoo! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce:

They came Airborne a few minutes ago!

I (Mrs Scottohiocpa) am home today since the kids don't have school & my in-laws, who usually babysit, are in Florida this week. Lucky them. I thought maybe the snow would keep the docs from coming too. But I guess not.

TheBets57 - I was thinking of meeting outside Scoops (Don't know if it's indoors or not). I just looked at other posts of where people meet. Seemed like a good place (not crowded) and then we can walk over to the Sailaway which is on the same deck midship. I was thinking right after the muster drill we could meet.

If anyone has a better idea, I'm all ears
::MinnieMo

Everyone have a "wonder"ful day!

We woke up to 10" of snow this morning. The kids are off school and Mrs. SCOTTOHIOCPA won the coin toss so she's at home with the kids. I plowed through the snow to get to work and it took about a half hour longer that usual. Those of you east of us - look out here it comes!

Mrs. SCOTTOHIOCPA did call to tell me our docs have arrived today! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :bounce:

DVCLADY - maybe UPS will come before the storm hits.

We both posted at the same time! Looks like the longer you are married the more alike you become.

Scottohiocpa AND Mrs. Scottohiocpa-Congrats on getting your docs!:bounce: :Pinkbounc Ten inches of snow:mad: UGH! It just started snowing here, with luck it will stop soon, but that's not what they're forcasting. Our kids just came home early, let's hope they make it to school tomorrow!!! I also hope my husband makes it home tonight. Luckily he recently let everyone at work know when his vacation would be because one of their customers wanted him to fly in on April 21!!! :(

See you real soon!!

Are any of you having trouble with this site going real slow? I"ve been having that problem for the past two days.

See you real soon!!

Hello All!

Well, wasn't that fun?!? We got SNOW and lots of it! I really thought we were done with that stuff. Ah the joys of Winter.

So - what's the count - only 4 1/2 weeks to go. So much to do in so little time. I have to start pulling all the necessities together. Soap, shampoo, sunscreen, etc. I think that is more of a pain than anything else. Oh - just one more step closer to our trip - hip hip hooray!

I'm looking forward to meeting everyone at Scoops! We will have our Dfriend and her 2 daughter's and my MIL in tow - they are eager to meet everyone, as well.

Scottohiocpa - just checking to see if you got everything arranged with your rides to the port - DH said again to remind you that he would gladly include you in our ride! Keep us posted!!

Hope fully we will be able to dig ourselves out of all this snow soon - either way - we're going on the MICKEY SHIP! -- HIP HIP HOORAY!!

:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsboy: :earsboy: :earsgirl: and :earsgirl: and even more :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsgirl:

try, try, again. Goofy601- thanks for the invite on picking me up at the Radisson. I decided to call them again this morning to see about the reservation. I got someone who looked up my booking, and then she put us on the list for 11:30! So, we should be OK. Little by little, everything's coming together.

:earsboy: :earsgirl: :earsgirl: :earsboy:

Bostonlass, We'll be at Ohanas sat nite also! The info I found said Spectromagic was at 9:00 and Wishes at 10:00 that night - is that what you had heard - I wonder if it is correct? I'd read that it is so fun to see Wishes from Ohanas, but because of the late times, we were going to eat, and then head over to the MK via monorail to get a spot somewhere before Spectro. We'll plan to stay for both and then head back to AKL. We had the same issues with what to do the first evening without a PHP. We decided to go to the Boardwalk, which is fun to see (and free). You can see Illuminations from there - they start at 9:00. Just another option!!

SCOTTOHIOCPA - Meeting up there sounds great to me! I know things should be very festive on deck. I guess we'll finalize as the day gets closer

Hi all!
Picked up some trip necessities today like chap stick with sun screen, disposable cameras for the kids to take to the clubs, water camera, film, etc. Also picked up a box of 24 mini bubbles that I'll bring to Scoops for the all the kids (and any adults, including goofy601's MIL, who want them:) ) to use at the sailaway party! I'm getting too excited already and know I'm driving my family nuts. Just 4 weeks and 2 days until we fly to Orlando!!!!!!! Still need to have my kids make their labels to bring. Hope I can keep everything organized!

DH came home sick today. He must be really, really sick because he NEVER misses work (see why I'm so excited about vacation) not even after having his wisdom teeth pulled. Hope he's better soon and the rest of us are healthy for vacation.

Stay healthy and see you soon!
