Who's not getting a passport for this summer?

Liserann - I can tell you from personal experience with that port (cruised RCCL in March) that the line is TREMENDOUSLY LONG if you are in the birth certificate line - It was long for the passport as well, but BC line was about 3 times as long and 3 times as slow - I would strongly encourage getting passports -

RCCL disembarks by colors - I was the fourth color out of like 8 - I did not get off the boat till 10am - (and I had a passport)

Just some advice - Get the passports -

Karen-thank you for advice! :flower:

I've decided to hold tight until the May 28th cruisers come back and see what they say. I did ask the question on cruisecritic.com and I was informed by recent cruisers to Mexico (same ports of call as ours) that there were two lines, as we've talked about, and as long as the parents had passports, even if the children didn't, the entire famly was able to use the passport line. So, I'm going to see if that holds true for the May 28th cruisers. We don't cruise until July 30th so I'll jump on it once I hear from them. Fortunately we don't have a plane to catch afterwards since we live in southern cal.

that's exactly what i'm doing...relying on the early west coast cruisers for info/observations! and go from there... :flower:

The new laws don't affect the summer cruises, but can I tell you how bummed I am that we have to spend $97 each for my DH and I and $82 for my DD 9 for passports? I really thought they'd be about $40 each. I must be living in the dark ages (makes me think of Spaceship Earth). Add that to our $150.00 minimum in tips and we're looking at almost $450.00 just for that. EEEEK! I know that the passports are good for many years, but EEEEK! again.

I found the info on travel.state.gov We're sailing December 29-January 2nd. I was temped to just take my chances, but it would be rough to not be able to get back into the US.

Yes, I wouldn't take a chance...that would be a scary situation. Or you could get to the port to board in December and they could refuse you without a refund! Either would stink!
