We bought a house this year and it needed some major TLC, so I'm positive we won't be going this year. I'm in some serious DT's since it's been 4 years since we have been, back when I was pregger too no less so I couldn't ride anything. Just being there was good for me, I LOVE US/IOA!!! And, I can always come here and live vicariously through your wonderful trip reports *sigh* :surfweb:

Back to the post I started with...

How many of you are planning your 2010 Harry Potter trip? I'd love to hear everyone's plans in the making.

We're still trying to decide when the best time is going to be to schedule our time off. I already know I'd love to make it a 2 week stay, although that may be difficult with work, and we want to stay on site, preferably the HRH.

Hope to see everyone's plans soon!

All I can tell you is...I plan to be watching the construction and will be ready when they do the AP previews! :cool1:

What are AP previews? I really need to get an AP don't I?
You should be a passholder if you can swing it. AP previews are scheduled for new attractions for passholders only. Some have been better than others but only passholders are allowed to attend.

I had originally planned on HP 2010, but now I'm leaning towards waiting until 2011 after the initial rush. *If* I can wait that long!

We are going July 2010. There are about 15 adults 6 kids approx. going!! We are splitting our time between Disney and Universal. We are staying on Disney grounds and will probably rent a few cars or if it's cheaper hire a van to drive us all to Universal for two days. I've started planning restaurant picks just because I know it will take forever for that many adults to figure out what they want to do. I'm hoping my husband and I can spend at least 8-10 days there. I love that a seven day Universal ticket is only $93. Though i can already estimate this trip will probably cost about $6000 for us.

With that big of a group, you might be better off calling Mears and checking into what they would charge for a large van for the group. It will probably be cheaper than renting cars.

THANKS!!! Can I just tell you how long I've been looking for a name of a company!:worship:

We are planning a 2010 trip. We are NOT going next year (yeah right ;) ) I think we are going to stay at the Country Inn Suites at Calypso Cay OR The Mike Ditka resort for Disney for 7 days. Then onto our HOME AWAY FROM HOME Universal Hard Rock Hotel for about 6 days. So hopefully we won't be lured into going to Universal next year so that I don't have to sell a limb to be able to afford the 2010 trip. I am going to be working closely with our AAA agent on this long adventure. I think we will head down the end of September just like this year. I think that will be a great time for both parks!

I have to ask, is anyone dreading HP? We go to Universal several times a year and don't care for HP at all. The one great thing about Universal is that there is no need to plan when staying on site. I'm dreading the influx of people who are visiting for HP only. I'm dreading the sold out hotels. The larger crowds. Probably the increase in prices. HP has already stolen the Enchanted Oak. What else does he want from me?

Have you read the books? Seen the movies. This is exactly what US needs to compete with Disney IMHO. I LOVE HP and it's the main reason I'm going in 2010. Most people who dislike HP have never given it an honest chance For fans it's our chance to be in an environment that we could only dream of. JK does such a great job describing the feeling at Hogwarts and Hogsmeade that everyone who has read the books wishes they could actually be there. Now we can! Yeah. I don't think it's going to ruin US by any means.

Even though I know nothing about HP, the only thing I'm dreading are the larger crowds...as you are. The prices will always go up just like Disney because people will continue to pay them. With Manta coming to Sea World and the HR3 coming to Universal this spring along with HP in 2010, it's a great time to live in Orlando...or close by. :teeth:

We're planning on going but I'm still undecided about whether we should go for it summer of 2010 or wait a bit for maybe the crowds to subside (yeah, right) over a HP.

We want to do 2010 but we will have to see . The kids are getting older and well with two going to a Catholic HS at the same time the cash flow for vacations may just dry up for awhile.
