Who's making plans for 2010 Harry Potter?

We want to do 2010 but we will have to see . The kids are getting older and well with two going to a Catholic HS at the same time the cash flow for vacations may just dry up for awhile.

Public Schools are way better than Catholic...just send them to a public school. Save your money.

We are going this year, then again summer of 2009, so we'll probably sit out 2010 and head back again in 2011 to check out HP.

OHHH it's US's answer to WDW's Rocking Roller coaster I assume.
I don't know if I'd call it an answer to the RnR because the HR3 is going to be VERY intense and un-Disney like. Disney doesn't build those types of rides. ;)

Between HR3 and HP,the park will never be slow again,IMO..

WE cann't waite tho.

I think RnR was quite intense but fun. I also don't see US being that diffent than Disney in the sense of attractions. But i think the visual aspect of Rnr will be comparable to that of HR3. I'm excited that I'll have that to look forward to in 2010. I haven't been to US in ten years.

Well, the ONLY reason we are going to US/IOA is due to Harry Potter, and mom is more excited thant he kids, I think. :)

I was planning on spring 2010 but I don't think it's going to be finished by then. Anxiously keeping my eye on construction time. Oldest DD will be in high school by then so I am not comfortable about taking her out of school for an extended vacation.
So although I plan on going not long after it opens, it really does depend on when it is finally completed.
Tentatively, we will stay on site for US for one or two nights, then move to Disney for the remainder of the vacation. We get to stay at Shades of Green due to DH, so can't pass that opportunity up either.

I'm thinking it's going to be summer of 2010 instead of spring but we'll have to wait and see.

Yeah, I know they have already changed the construction time once already. There is no way I will get DH to FL in the summer. He hates the heat, and on a recent business trip to Tampa, he never left the hotel room after work. But I need him there to get Shades of Green, so have to take him with us. Darn. :)

Even though I know nothing about HP, the only thing I'm dreading are the larger crowds...as you are. The prices will always go up just like Disney because people will continue to pay them. With Manta coming to Sea World and the HR3 coming to Universal this spring along with HP in 2010, it's a great time to live in Orlando...or close by. :teeth:

Lucky Duck!!

I just might have to fly down for the AP Previews...

I have to ask, is anyone dreading HP? We go to Universal several times a year and don't care for HP at all. The one great thing about Universal is that there is no need to plan when staying on site. I'm dreading the influx of people who are visiting for HP only. I'm dreading the sold out hotels. The larger crowds. Probably the increase in prices. HP has already stolen the Enchanted Oak. What else does he want from me?

me...me...me.....me....me........that makes 2 of us.....

i am not a parry hotter fan at all.
don't tell me to watch the movie or read the book.
just not my thing.
tried them both and was bored to tears......
fiction books have never excited me.

i do universal every fall for HHN. totally and completely addicted to it.
that is what i am looking forward to each year.

i agree about the increase of crowds, the increase of the loews hotels rates, the increase of food costs, the increase of ticket / ap prices, etc, changing UO. i assume many of the motherland guests will be visiting IOA for the new island.

i have never needed a draw such as hp to lure me into the parks at universal.
i love them just the way they are and always have been. but, i am looking forward to the new coaster ride, and what ever additions they make to the park with the new island. it is not parry hotter that excites me, it is new rides to go on that i look forward to.

what ever universal does, they do it up in style.
whatever person or thing they are building the new island on does not matter to me at all. i figure the rides and resturaunts will be done up in style and not disappoint any guest.

there are many many many people that have not seen universal films and still really enjoy the rides they reflect.......terminator, ET, jaws, shrek, hulk, nicktoons, etc...
you can really enjoy a ride without knowing anything about the movie it was based on.

i know all businesses have to grow and this new island will boost things for universal.
i just dread like mr subi said, the increase of costs all around for the UO homies that are regulars.

don't get me wrong.
i do the motherland and the darkside on each trip i take to orlando.
i enjoy both of them for different reasons.
disney is soooooo crowded when i am there.
when i move over the HRH and stay on site, i have very little crowds and love that part of my vacations.

crowds can sometimes dampen the fun for me. in the park or on the busses or in line....

My family & I. We'll be going in Nov. right after my big 50! So let's hope that it will be open by then :)

:confused3

I think it will mean more crowds but I still doubt it will be WDW in the summer season crowds, all year at least . And I don't mind sharing the park with a few more people if it means US/IOA is making money and investing it back into the parks.

We're thinking either mid-late October or early-mid December 2010. And yes, HP is a huge draw - if it weren't for that, I'm not sure we'd be going back to Orlando at all! We're all huge fans of HP, and though we also love Disney and I love Universal and want to introduce it to my kids, HP is what will justify the trip for me!

I'm worried December may be a bit cold for all the water stuff, though. October seems perfect, but I don't know if I can make it work yet, with school and stuff.

We are! We've got the tickets. Hopefully we can save enough for a HRH stay and lots of good eats!

makes THREE of us!

we'll be there summer 2009, 2010, 2011, etc...we go every year.

NOT looking forward to more crowded hotels and parks and restaurants either...all for Harry....which, I have not, could not, watch the movies or read the books.... I'm also not looking forward to everyone coming here and complaining about UO. The people who complain now, will come to UO to see HP and then come back here whining "it wasn't Disney"..."Disney could have done it SO much better"... .....puhleeze....

Looking forward to HR3 and HP...but, that's about it :guilty:

I can't wait til Harry Potter! I'm an HP nerd :thumbsup2 I'm still upset that they pushed back the 6th movie.

Anyway, no plans to go as of right now, but I plan on taking a trip out there in 2010, no doubt about it. Maybe around Oct for my birthday :lovestruc

if you go in 2010 during october, take in HHN...........
