I am definitely wanting to do one of these next year. Here's the problem...I want to do both of them but WAY too many points needed to even consider that possibility. I don't know which one to pick...such a big problem right??

I know that if I could do the Alaska one, it would be my first choice. I have cruised to Alaska, in 1995, but would do it again in a heartbeat. It's a longer cruise than the 4 nighter, to me that also is a plus. I wish DVC would do a 7 night Caribbean.

We are planning on booking the Alaska cruise. I only have enough points to book a standard inside. So I need to get through very early in the day. I'm not interested in the summer cruise. It does not go anywhere.

Can't wait. Phones open at 6:00 am our time. Will be on phone immediately trying to get room. Booked both Hawaii cruises in September 2015. If we get on this one 2015 will be a very special year !!:cheer2:

Wow, that's great!:)

I have to admit that I am looking at a Hawaiian cruse.

It's interesting to see how high the level of interest in Member Cruises still is. I wonder, given the increase in Memberships, if the Alaskan Cruise is the beginning of them beginning to branch out and offer more Membership Cruises each year... how about a Mediteranean Member Cruise

Cruised previously on Caribbean 4 night members cruise, loved it. Will be on the phone early sunday morning, hoping to get a room. Prior cruise only had 3A rooms available, but I had enough points for that. This time, I will not have enough points for that category, so will hope to get through earlier in the day.

If the member cruise makes Disney a profit, you will continue to see them. It's a easy way to fill up the older ships.

Dream is newer. Wonder is older. I do not think the age of the ship comes to play. I think Frozen is the force behind the Alaska destination MC.

I would be interested in the Alaska, however my vacation budget is stretched thin. Currently at WDW. Coming with friends for a week in December. DHs convention is San Antonio in March and DDs band plays Spring Break at WDW in April, so another week then. Thus, not enough $ or pts to cruise.

booked for Aug 2014--maybe our 1st and last b/c last year we can travel as a family in late Aug. b/c DD will be in college. Younger kids have school thru mid-June, so that rules out May.

Does anyone know if the cancellation policy differs for this ? (we'd be paying cash no points anyway).

We were all pumped for the Double Dip but now DH's family want to go in Oct :(

For the 4-Night Bahamas Member Cruise from PC:

You would need to call MS to get the cancellation policy for the Alaska Member Cruise. It's different since is sails from a Non-US Port.

Thank you. So if we are in Cat 4-11 and 75 days or more we get 100%. We're going to try and book and see what happens with family getting organized and go from there.

We were just talking about doing an Alaska cruise, and I have always wanted to do a member cruise. And those dates would normally be perfect for us -- our kids get out of school before Memorial Day. But just as I was getting excited, I remembered that my daughter's dance teacher announced that recital would be after school let out, so it probably won't work.

But if the cancellation policies for cash on the Alaska cruise are as forgiving as the Caribbean one, I might just book it and see if it could work.

Or maybe I should just forget about it and minimize the disappointment. :(

It's funny... we are at the point where we really have to work around schedules too, and the Member Cruises are usually during times that majorly conflict. But ds will finish finals (college) a few days before the scheduled dates of the Alaska Cruise, and he should be able to start his internship after we get back. Dates that actually maywork for all of us!

Can you give the link where you got this? Is it posted for the Bahamian cruise but not the Alaskan?

The Member website does not have the cancellation policy for cruises that depart from a non-US Port, you have to call MS to get the policy for that cruise.

As for the cancellation policy I posted, it's the standard cancellation policy for cruises booked as part of the Disney Collection (the Member Cruise is technically a Disney Collection Cruise). The policy can be found under 'Vacation Planning' > 'Modify or Cancel a Reservation' > 'Disney Collection' (tab).

Thanks. I just did a chat session with someone who originally told me it was on the site with all the member cruise information, and when I asked specifically where, he sent me to that page you reference. Since it didn't say at the top that non-US port cruises were excluded, I thanked him and ended the session. But now I see that in a footnote it excludes non-US ports. :headache:

I'd like to have found it in writing, but it looks like I'll have to call. I hope I don't get someone as clueless as the chat person.

I just went through the chart again and it's like $1000 more than the Aug 31 for an 11 I just don't know if it is worth it. But CC is our absolute favourite part of any cruise :(

So I called MS and pushed the number for booking a cruise and got a lovely CM who really knew her stuff. She read out the cancellation policy for cruises booked through DVC that do not originate in a US port. I think it's the same as the 10 or more nights chart at
'Vacation Planning' > 'Modify or Cancel a Reservation' > 'Disney Collection' (tab).

There might be a few differences, but the important thing for me is full refund at >120 days out. And it's looking more like we could swing it in the calendar, so I'm going to try for it!

Thanks for your help.
