Who's in for GREECE and TURKEY, June 15 2003????

Under the 400 day mark!! Whohoo!!!:thumbsup2

YEA
We got our first mail piece from DCL yesterday! Outlined our reservation number cabin number and when we can make our reservations! 3/2/2013!:scared1: However this date will move up after we complete our cruise in September we will be Platimum! Look forward to the 364 daymark LOL!

So I've been checking airfare even though I know it's too early and got stumped when I could no longer find our non-stop flight from ATL to BCN - but it was just a seasonal glitch I hit where they were only making 4 flights a week non-stop. But starting April 1, 2013, they are back to daily non-stops, so that means I can start fare watching. Right now the flight in April is $1,072 per person. If it remains that price for the dates we'll want once we're far enough into this summer to book the outbound and return flights, then we will absolutely be booking our own airfare rather than doing it through DCL. Because we are doing B2B, our return date isn't until July 10th so we have to wait until August to be able to actually be able to book our flights so it will be interesting to see how it goes. Just trying to get things set on our calendar for when we need to do what... anyone else do that?

In the meanwhile, we have 1 1/2 weeks of school plus finals left for the boys. A band concert, piano recital, music department awards ceremony, cooking project, and finishing Driver's Ed virtual school class to do in the same time period.

And taking care of the details for our vacation this summer - going to Yellowstone and Mt. Rushmore and various points between. The last two summers we've had cruises, so it's odd to be planning a land-based vacation! While we're at Yellowstone, we are going to book one of their tours - so it's kinda like booking a cruise excursion :)

Hope everyone is doing well.

Sounds like a great vacation this year. If you ever get to Williamsburg VA please PM me and I can get you discounted tickets since I work for Colonial Williamsburg. We are also watching airfares. Out of my area right now they are around $1,500! We paid $1,200 in 2007 which was 300 per person lower than DCL and when we got into Alanta at least 1/4 of the flight were folks going on our trip!

Just off the Wonder and a fun-filled Hawaiian cruise and while I was sadly thinking of what I was doing this time last week I also started to think about where we'll be in a little over a year! I LOVE the classic ships, so Disney Magic here we come!!! and....GREECE!!!!

Yes, I have been watching flights as well! However, there is a possibility that we will be moving between now and then (CO to MI) so I will be kind of hesitant to purchase and not really sure what to do.

My husband and I have a bucket list goal to visit every National Park (there are less than 60 national parks - we aren't counting the national historic sites, etc). We are just over a 1/3 of the way there. Yellowstone is one of our top three so far. It is just spectacular! Between the scenery, geothermal features, and wildlife - just amazing. You'll have a great time on your adventure!

Take Care, jen

So for kicks and giggles I thought I'd price out airline tickets. Now granted I could only do the time period starting at the end of March to a date in April, but you have to figure that's spring break so prices may be up in that period. I was totally amazed. Price for United (we took continental last time) was $936 per person nonstop. That was less than we paid last time we went. I was amazed. Don't know if it's the time of year or the price went down, but we'll see. I was amazed to see that when the cost was broken down, the actual airline ticket was $404 and the rest of the price was taxes and fees.

You east coasters are killing me. I assume that I'm spending a minimum of $1500 per ticket. Anything better is a blessing.

Not to be a pessimist but I think you'll see higher fares for June. Last year I was watching them in the spring hoping they would be okay and then they shot up in June.

I wish I could say that all east coasters get the low price since I am in Williamsburg VA we are likely to pay what you are paying from CA and we cannot fly anywhere from here nonstop! It will be interesting to see what the airfares come up as. The challenge is June is the beginning of the travel season from the US which of cours ups the price.
Did you folks on the west coast see the ecilpse?
Happy Monday to all of our fellow cruisers! Sue

I'm hoping to do this airfare in points .... I'm actually going to start looking next month. The only problem with this is I have to hope that the airlines have the Barcelona direct flights already in their computers. As some of you have already found out, the direct flights seem to be summer flights only.... With points, I may have to fly to Frankfurt first.

Oy.... still too early to be thinking about this. :rotfl2:

Hi everyone. Last full week of school year and then exams next week. Band concert and piano recital are over. Final project done last week and food made to take in today (he did his project on Belize since we were there on a cruise in December - we made coconut rice and red beans). Zach has his 8th grade trip to Busch Gardens on Wednesday. Nathan thinks he'll only have one final next week (English, last period of the last day - blech). He's finishing Driver's Ed today (it's a virtual class, taking the final tonight or tomorrow).

Still checking several times a week to see if Cabin 6116 opens up for us :) And watching the airfare from ATL. Just saw ATL airport opened their new international terminal last week - that will be nice! I know I've posted this before, but DCL wants $1,818 per person for airfare. If we can get airfare on our own for $1,400 or less, we'll take it because that'd be like paying for three instead of four, even considering the insurance and transfers, etc. that we'd end up having to pay for separately. At least I think I did the math right abotu that.

We are very excited about our trip to Yellowstone and Mt. Rushmore. We're going to fly to Salt Lake City and add 7 states to our "where we've been" list while we're out there. We're "cutting the corner" of North Dakota and Nebraska but it counts :)

Now to just get through the rest of this week and next!

I took my DD's to Yellowstone and Mt. Rushmore two years ago. It was amazing. Be sure to do a cave tour your DS's would love it. DD was 4 at the time and I ended up carrying her trough two caves , too scary for her.

No nonstops out of DC?

I'm north of Seattle, not CA. No eclipse for us. It was overcast :(.
