I am new to the group and I have been reading many of the posts, so I felt I should post something. My mom, my daughter (16), and I can't wait to to fly out and start our vacation. We have cruised many times with DCL, but have never cruised in the Med so we are excited.

Apparently when I moved long_time_cruiser to Deck 6, things in the spreadsheet shifted incorrectly.

Families who are DIY to VF & CT will meet @ Renaissance on Friday before 7 p.m. Just for 15 mins. to discuss a preliminary plan as to Preliminary.

I will add the event list.

Then, we will meet at the Promenade lounge at 3:45 p.m. to discuss who wants to walk to the Train, or walk to the Train and take it to final destination.

Note: If we are not off the ship at the same time, it is important to have the group go ahead with as the plan for a designated time to disembark for the VF and CT excursion.

For example, we can also preface that if any family is 5 mins. late, the families and groups will need to leave.

It is important that we are respectful that families are not held up by waiting for another family.

Again, this is for families who want to DIY in VF and CT and feel more comfortable traveling in groups.

Heck, it's always fun to have fun families traveling together.

• taking pictures of each other's families
• sharing a nice lunch together
• Children swimming together and sharing stories about their home town
• having a gelato eating contest.
• Just to name a few...

Well everyone do not know if I will get a chance to post this evening. We leave tomorrow at 1:30 from HSV and our flight departs Atlanta at 5:45. I am super excited.

Just want to say I hope everyone has a safe trip to Barcelona.

I'm having so much fun trying to find safe places to eat while off the ship. I have a severe reaction to gluten, and a couple other things as well. Does anyone else have dietary issues? And have you found a safe place to eat in our Monaco/France stop? I found multiple places in Rome and a couple in CT and I believe I can navigate around it in Greece. On our other tours I can just go back to the ship.

Abayaflowers - thanks for this - we will definitely want to get together with those interested in doing CT on their own. I'm seriously looking forward to this port. We have some friends who di it in 2007 and I fell in love with their photos and they regaled us with tales of how charming the area is. And yay for having people you trust to take pictures of each other's families - we try to get our annual family photo made on vacation, usually as a snapshot from somewhere interesting.

That does sound like a challenge. Are you doing Monaco on your own or as part of a tour? You may want to check with the TripAdvisor Monaco forum and ask over there. This blog post describes finding places in Monaco with salads, etc., that you might find of interest.

We are part of an all day tour in Monaco. I will ask on the ship if I can't locate anything beforehand. Maybe I can have them make me a sack lunch before the tour. I'll go check out that other form to see if there is more info on Gfree in Monaco.


I am also doing CT on our own. Our train schedule is printed. We have a copy of the trail map. I found a couple Gfree friendly restaurants and the names of good gelato shops. Looking forward to a leisurely day in the Cinque Terre.

Dulles to Geneva with a 5 hour layover and onto Barcelona. I will take a look at the list.

Have you tried posting something on TripAdvisor. Great! advice from well-traveled people in the designated areas.

You have to go to the travel forum > click Europe > country > then the town.

You can post your questions there.

I could go on, but totally excited.

Our family will be leaving on the 12th but will sign off on the disboards on the 11th. If there is wireless on our flight, I will post stuff.

We leave home on the 11th but fly out on the 12th. We will have wifi at the hotel on the 11th and don't check out til after noon, and then we have a mifi to use for the ATL airport until boarding, so I'm sure I'll be posting and reading here and on FB until we start meeting folks at the airport. Then maybe if they're willing, we'll do some photos in the airport

We have free wifi in the lobby at the Renaissance, and I have read that there is free wifi aboard the Bus Turistic (hopefully gonna rack up a lot of FourSquare points - LOL).

It seems that so many of you all are at the Renaissance, but I wondered if there would be any other DIS'ers at our hotel.

My dad and my brother both have birthdays while we're gone, so I was getting their cards and remembered it's also Father's Day while we are away. Thought I'd post that here in case it's slipped up on others who wanted to send their dad a card before leaving.

Also...it's a good idea (if you have a way to make copies at home) to make a copy of the first page of your passports, credit cards, DL just in case (God forbid) something is stolen or misplaced. I also photograph my luggage so that if lost (it did on our way home from our Medi cruise in 2007), I show them the photo with exact dimensions. It worked and I had my luggage within 24 hours.

Safe travels everyone! We leave from Dulles on the 12th (through Brussels) and will be staying at the Grand Marina in case other are staying there...
