If anybody's interested in seeing Gaudi's Parc Guell in Barcelona, don't put it off...in October they are going to start charging an admission fee. It's still free for now. (There's an admission charge for the museums though)

The unreset mainly has to do with a park that they want to build a shoping mall on.

That's pretty much the reason for starting stuff up, but it's actually about the alleged overreaching of power on the part of the current Prime Minister. if it was just about the park, you wouldn't see anything going on outside of Istanbul. The news says there were new and very recent laws passed concerning the sale and availability of alcohol, so if you were looking to try a Turkish cocktail or some wine or whatever, I don't know what effects those will have. The prime minister was quoted as being of the opinion that anyone who drinks alcohol is an alcoholic.

Istanbul and Ankara are nowhere near Ephesus. State Department still doesn't have any travel advisories regarding Turkey, or Kusafiri. The captain does have the option to decide that the ship will not dock there. I did some research and the most I can find is to be careful in Ephesus about sellers offering to sell you ancient coins. You should realize that 1) they're not real, and 2) if they were real, you would be breaking the law by taking them out of Turkey.

Secret Deck 7 is where we saw orca whales while on the Alaskan cruise in 2011. It was amazing!

That is also a great place to watch the ship goes through the locks in Panama! Everyone crowds forward Deck 9 & 10 but secret Deck 7 was almost completely empty! Granted it is a different view from the aft but it gets you much closer to the gates!

Sure - it's the Google Docs spreadsheet. This link takes you to the one that is editable - there are some GTY cabins still there that anyone who had a GTY and wants to update their cabin number can do so. There are a few tabs in this document - the one labeled DIS LIST is the one that is editable - the one that is SHEET 1 is the one that updates from the RollCall Form. When it was locked for so long, we made a new tab and then just copied everything over. I think it's sorted alphabetically by DISer if anyone is looking to update their info. For my own use today, I just copy/pasted the info for the DISer and Cabin number into an Excel and made it so it fit on one page - but I didn't save it after I printed.

Is this also the FE list?

Matisse paintings in Villefranche? Please tell me more! We're doing the DCL excursion for Monaco, Monte Carlo and Eze on the 16th, but when we port in Villefranche again, we plan to just hang out in the town, maybe walk all the way down to the beach (we only went part way last time we were there). I have something planned for DH, because it's father's day while we are in Villefranche-sur-Mer. there's a chapel in town that rivals Matisse's museum and it's called Chapelle Saint-Pierre.

By the way, I was going to send you the directions to Matisse's Museum; however, Google took out the option for public transportation. Good news is that I found on TripAdvisor this:

Take Bus 81 from the port or 80 then to bus 20 from riquier.

Then, they state that one can reuse the same ticket from bus 20 when connecting by validating in the machine on board the second bus.

Have never seen a tropical themed party. The only parties are the sail away party and the pirate party.

Finally have a chance to answer this. Great idea by the way - I've learned quite a bit about everyone by reading the responses.


1) When does your vacation begin? (out the door, flight, Spain, boarding...) - Saturday morning when I'm getting my pedicure.

2) What are you most looking forward to tasting? Wine and cheese in every port and Gelato in Italy.

3) What is your favorite secret that you know or have heard about on the Magic? Don't have any yet - this is only our second trip on the Magic.

4) Which port are you most excited about? Rome, Barcelona on the 27th least

5) How will you dress for pirate night? New pirate stuff from the thrift store.

6) What one thing do you wish you'd known before your first cruise? To start cruising sooner and to pay attention to the details.

Just noticed that there may be a boo-boo in the FE list . . .

Our kids, Jennifer (DD), age 22 and Mark (DS) age 18 somehow got bumped up a row and ended up in "double trouble"'s party, in cabin 7631 with Michael.

Jennifer and Mark are actually in the "Deb in IA" party, in cabin 8002, with DH Eric, but not with Madison, Henry and Scarlett.

Yes actually got to catch more of the news yesterday. They were also saying that they are rioting is several more cities in Turkey. I am not sure where they are as the new did not say. Hopefully we will still be able to port in Turkey.
