Good morning! Thanks for all the welcome backs!!It's pretty rough coming home after living in paradise for 10 days! But I'm keeping busy with laundry and getting things ready for school tomorrow.
Thanks so much to all of you who kept us in your thoughts and prayers for a safe trip. We were very lucky that Irene missed FL. I hope you were all safe during the storm. Jodi said that several of you lost power. I hope there was no damage to your homes or anything.
So yes, while 10 days may sound like a long time it went by way too fast. But like I said, we had a wonderful time. We would definitely go this time of year again. IDK if it is our favorite time of year, but it definitely wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I think I had it set in my mind that we were going to get up and be miserable from morning til night from the heat. And that wasn't the case! Thankfully!! There were a few days in there that were kinda rough because of the heat. We didn't stay for Fantasmic on night because it was pretty dang hot and we didn't feel like sitting there with hundreds of sweaty stinky people.
The rain kept us in the room one afternoon longer than anticipated and then it got us one day in Epcot, but we put on our ponchos and kept going!
We had a great time with Jodi and family. The kids really hit it off! MC is such a sweetie and the boys and Drew & Belle had a blast playing on the beach together! We saw them 3 times -- twice on Friday and then yesterday morning before we left. DH and Mark had tons to talk about and really enjoyed visiting. I heard them tell each other good-bye and that they were sure we'd be meeting up again!
As for an update on Jodi & family -- they had a great time at the football game on Saturday and got in pretty late. They made it to breakfast at Kona yesterday and everyone loved it of course! They went to MK last night and she said it was super crowded. The Labor Day crowds must have come in. And they got rained on. They had dinner at Tony's. I'll let her tell you about that later. Today they were swimming and are going to Epcot later. She said the love-bugs have arrived.

Aackk, school!! I forgot your boys start school tomorrow! Schools here have been in session since early August. They will have lots to tell their friends about!
Yep, back to school tomorrow.
So one thing I'm dying to hear about is how Jack did with the grandparents! Do you have him back yet?
My parents met us here when we got back! Jack did great, not one single accident!! He was so thrilled to see us! But I think he is going to miss my Dad, he became quit attached to him over the last 10 days!
How did your DH manage with the hernia? I heard at one point it wasn't too bad - I hope that was the case the entire time! Does he have a date scheduled for surgery yet?
He did pretty well. He had a few times when he had to lay down for awhile. But all in all he kept up well and wasn't in too much pain. His surgery is this Friday.
I was so glad that the weather we had this weekend from TS Lee didn't go your way. It wasn't severe by any means, just a LOT of rain. We lost power for about 5 seconds yesterday.Just long enough to mess up the alarm clock, the oven, the microwave, the coffee pot......I hate resetting all those clocks!
But not complaining!! I stayed inside all weekend and have a very clean house today.
I think we are going to have some sunshine today and cooler temps this week.
Shawna, that Naner guy is dancing for you, too!
Well that's good that your power just blinked off. A pain to have to reset everything, but still better than losing power for days!!
It's so neat that your and Jodi's families hit it off so well! Do your boys have a secret crush on MC?I thought about Jo Saturday with all the football games on TV. Her Gators took care of business. Hey Jo, if you read this - are they calling the new coach MusCHOMP?
I don't know why, but that just popped in my head.
I hope the crowds will be a lot lighter after this weekend. I would bet it is a slow week - well, slow for Disney.
Oh yes, the boys think MC is very pretty and sweet.![]()
I hope the crowds disappear after today for them.
Are y'all doing seperate TR's? I thought you had said you were. So if you are, then you can start yours tomorrow!
Glad to have you back, Shelly! We sure missed you!
Welcome Home Shelly!
We missed you.
Can not wait to hear all about your trip.
I was just priceing out Poly CL and now I here you would not stay CL again ...uh oh
A lot happened while you were gone, Irene came to visit us here in Ct. and we postponed our trip to March and already thinking about changeing resorts
Get some sleep so you can start your TR and we heard all about you going to DTD to buy more shoes !!!!!
I'm so glad to hear that the weather wasn't as bad as you expected. I know that can really make or break a trip.
I can't wait to hear about all your adventures, especially at the Poly! I bet that has turned you into a resort snob hasn't it?I don't think I even need to entertain the thought of staying there or I'd never want to go back to Pop or CBR!
I'm really looking forward to your pictures from there!

I agree that 10 days sounds like a lot, but it goes by so fast. Both our previous trips have been that long and I still didn't want to leave. I don't know that a Disney trip could ever be long enough.
I'm so glad to hear that your DH did ok, and I'll be praying for him for his upcoming surgery. How long do they think he will be out of work?
Welcome home Shelly!!!
Happy to hear you had a wonderful vacation!![]()
200 out of 1400+ pics loaded to photobucket..........![]()
I'm not looking forward to that part either. I'm uploading them to Facebook first, and that is already taking a LOT of time. Eiditing and adding borders to my 200 photopass pictures is also a HUGE and a bit annoying task. Then it'll be time for photobucket. Oh boy!
How was your trip???
Oh loading these pics takes forever. I like to load them to photobucket and shutterfly before I delete them from my memory card. I will be working on this for days...
Sheila, I am pretty familiar with insurance and I know around here, we do not have to make a list of what food you lost. If I were you, I would ask your insurance adjuster to come out and take a look at your damages. It won't cost you anything but time. The adjusters around here just ask you to estimate how much you lost in food. They also tend to be very generous during widespread catastrophes and don't ask too many questions. You may be surprised. We just had them look at our SUV for storm damage and they wrote us a check for twice what I was expecting. (Now keep in mind that we had a zero deductible on the car, so that will make a big difference.) They really want to make a good impression and please the customers during times like this so I think maybe you should give them a call. Just my opinion though.
1400 pictures Oh My that is a lot of pics Shelly. I guess you really loved the Poly if it turned you into a resort snobAll is good, many a person has stayed at the Poly and never looked back again
No real damage from Irene but our power was out for 3 days so we did lose most of the food we had stored which upset me since I had enough foodstuffs for at least a month and did not plan on spending much this month since we were paying off our trip.
Now the bad news......we have no water well hopefully maybe we will tomorrow(when the well people come out) but when our power came on it came on in 3 spurts, so 3 power surges. We had thought to unplug the a/c units and the fridge and freezer cause I knew a power surge could damage the compressors but never thought about the well pump. Anyway the pump is not a pumping now and I blame DH cause the "idiot"(taken from everybody loves raymond), flushed the toliet a few times while the power was out instead of using the bucket and water in the tub for that purpose.
Any how we debated and decided to just postpone our trip even though it cost to change our plane tix, we have to see what is up with the pump and what that is gonna cost. Insurance deductable is $1000 if it would even cover that and DH does not want to deal with putting in a claim
I was going to make a list on the food we threw out but did not since I doubted it came to $1000 I didn't, this was before we knew we had an issue with the pump
So.........................I called Friday and changed our reservation to March with FD and went back to our original resort of choice last year of CR.
All in all it should work out better as DS and Ddil might go with us(I doubt it but that is what they said). Plus DH will have had his second cateract surgery done(Oct 27) by time we go.
Sending your DH good thought for Friday, when my DH had his done the surgery went well, the recovery no so much so since my DH is a big baby when anything is wrong with him and he laid on the couch like a dying cow. Only getting up when absolutely neccessary cause it cause him pain to get up and down and walk etc. I forget how long he was out but 3-6 weeks sounds like a good time frame. If my DH ever birthed a baby he would still be on the couchok slight exageration but you get the pic
Can not wait to hear all about your trip sounds like so much fun especially meeting up with Jo's family.
