Who's gone to NYC the night before Thanksgiving?

Has anyone gone to NYC the night before Thanksgiving to see the parade balloons inflated? Where do they do that? What time? What else have you done that day to make it special? Thanks!

Very cold, very crowded, and they herd you down side streets in a line. We waited over two hours to get to the actual area where the balloons were. Never again. But we did see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular so it wasn't a totally bad day.
