Who's going To be there on May 5, 2005?

I am, I am :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

I am going on May 5th 2005 and am going to one of the first people to try the "Magical Express" because I have an early morning flight into MCO so I should arrive around 9:00 a.m. Saying I can't wait is an understatement. :rolleyes1

DW and I are going to be at SSR 4/30 - 5/6 for the big 25th Anniversary Celebration. What? You haven't heard about this? It's our 25th Wedding Anniversary! :love2: We have heard, however, about some other minor thing going on at the parks around May 5....

This is the second time that we accidentally got caught up in celebration plans: we made plans for our first visit "home" to Saratoga Springs Resort and Spa last May, then we found out it was Founders Day / Grand Opening! We're quite interested as to what's going to happen on May 5....

Be well!

May 1st - May 6th, BCV. Had no idea about the celebration when I planned it last June!! Oh well, when in Disney do as the DISer's do!! :rolleyes1

You said you go every year at this time. How are the crowds normally, when there isn't anything special going on?
I'm hoping that most people don't know about the celebration and aren't planning special trips around the opening week. Hey, we can hope right.

Our 12th spring in a row. The crowds are there, don't let anyone fool you. It won't be slow but it won't be holiday crowds either. (However, this is the normal schedule, no one can predict what the crowd level will be like the first week of May with the kick off and new attractions). There will be lines, but they will be doable. Weekends will be crowded no matter what. Use fastpass often and make your PS before you go. However, you can still make your PS the day before. We always fine-tune about a week before we leave. We often will change our PS plans when we arrive. You'll find us in the evening with a drink in hand catching a concert at EPCOT. But the weather is the best part. Nothing beats early May weather in WDW. Take lots of sunscreen and drink lots of water (bring a hat). We usually have a routine which includes a park in the AM, lunch, pool time, then back to a park in the PM. With the new EMH/evening things will be a little different for us. We were there for a week in January and have done the new EMH schedule already, so are looking forward to doing it in the spring when it's warmer. We will be there for 16 days! April 29-May 14 @ Pop.

We will be there May 3 - 10th for our baby's first trip!

For what it's worth (regarding the start of the celebration), we were there during Walt's 100th b-day on Dec 5th, 2001. There was a lot of talk on the boards about how busy it was going to be, etc. and I got all worried about it. Turns out it was empty. We even ended up going to the studios on the 5th for the actual celebration to see Jeb Bush, Eisner, etc. because the parks were so empty that we figured we could get in and see it without too much trouble. The Christmas parade was also being filmed during that week so there was a lot going on. Granted, this was after 9/11 AND early Dec is slow, but my point is only not to worry too much about crowds, you never know.

I know several people who are going to be at DisneyLAND May 5th and on July 17th (the actual 50th b-day) and I think it will be a madhouse (by DL standards).

Just my 2 cents :earsboy:

Me too!! We didn't plan it that way. We'll be thare from 4/26 to 5/7, hope it's not too crowded.

We made our resv. without knowing anything about the Celebration - We picked these dates because usually this is a quiet time of year to visit and enjoy the Flower Festival at Epcot!! Hopefully it won't be too bad. :flower:

:hourglass

We will be there as well. Had to move our stay up a week due to DH's work schedule.

Has anyone found any updated info on what is going to be happening for the opening???

Denise

How long is this celebration? Is this the 50th anniversary celebration we're talking about? I thought this celebration was for Disneyland? or is this only at WDW?

My neice is getting married in Sept. They live in Cali, would there be celebration there too? What are they doing that makes this a special celebration? Thanks for any infos. I am in the dark here.
