Who's Going in December?

Now that I've found the right thread here's our vacation plans
Driving from Seattle area on Friday Dec 21 (I'm a little nervous about the weather but it's too expensive to fly)
Checking into the DLH on the 22nd and checking out on the 27th
This is my kids first time at DL and my DH and I haven't been there since they were building DCA

Sounds like fun! We have done the drive from Salem, OR before at Christmas and, while snowy at times, it wasn't horrible. The I-5 corridor stays as clear as they can get it because of the truck traffic. I highly recommend stopping at Granzella's in Williams, CA (just north of Sacramento) as one of your pit stops. Google it to get the exact location. Great little restaurant/market/deli/sandwich shop.

Wow, that brings back memories! When I was a kid, I lived in Northern California on the I-5 corridor. We used to stop at Granzella's on a lot of trips! It's been years since I've been there, but it sure was great when I was young. We also loved the Berry Patch Restaurant in Orland, but again, I was a teenager the last time I went, and now I'm the parent of a teenager.

Thanks for the info, we are staying at a hotel in Sacramento(near the airport) the first night. I will goggle Granzella's and see how close we will be.

I don't know if you'll have time, but there's a great railway museum in Sacramento that's worth a visit.

Counting down the days!! Can wait to be in Disneyland when it's all decorated for Christmas.

My mom found her photos and such from our trip in '86. It was cool to compare the maps from 1986 to 2012. Only a few rides missing (although tomorrowland has changed rides but not structures from what I can see) like Indiana Jones and Splash Mtn.

My dates are 12/2 - 12/5 (but I may switch them later) - at the PPH! (I can't stay away from my favorite hotel Christmas tree, apparently! I just adore that tree!)

I'm looking forward to seeing the tree as well! Your Christmas Superthread is what helped me decide on PPH. :thumbsup2 Have fun!

Wahoo get to make my dining reservations tomorrow! Who else is joining? What time do the phone lines open? My plan

12/25 Dinner Napa Rose
12/26 Lunch Carnation Cafe
Dinner Blue Bayou
12/27 Dinner Ariels Grotto
12/28 Dinner Goofy's Kitchen
12/29 Dinner Wine Counry Trattoria
12/30 Breakfast Storeytellers

Sacha -

You can start the day of two months before. So for 12/25 call 10/25 and 12/26 call 10/26. You can make your ressies at dine@disneyland.com by submitting an email with day, date, Your name, time you want to eat, and how many people are in your party. They will give you the closest available time to the time you request. I made all of my ressies this way and got all the times I wanted. Biggest benefit - email is 24/7. I believe the phone lines are 8a - 9p Cali time.

Hope this helps.
Kris

Thanks Kris :)

So I can't make all my ressies tomorrow? :confused3. You really have to call every day?

If you call on your last day of ressies then yes you can make all of your ressies the same day. the email address gives you a confirmation # on your email and is quite simple to just cut and update the new info. Having that paper confirmation makes me feel a bit more comfortable. E-mail your first two ressies and you will see how easy it is.

dine@disneyland.com

Reservations for:
Date
Your name
@Resteraunt for time am/pm
for # of people

Easy peasy.

I considered doing the email method, but with a party of 9 to book I knew that there would be limited times to choose from and a conversation may be a better method (I was right about that).

My bookings are DONE until the 30 day mark releases tours and Fantasmic Dessert seating. We got everything we wanted at pretty close to all the times we wanted. :yay: I really expected it to be more difficult to book a party of 9 for things at Christmas week, but nope!

Our dining schedule is:
12/23 8pm Steakhouse 55
12/24 1:10 Blue Bayou
12/24 7pm Big Thunder BBQ
12/25 12:30 Carthay Circle
12/26 1pm Carnation Café
12/26 5:40 Wine Country Trattoria
12/27 10am Minnie and Friends
12/27 3pm Café Orleans

The 25th's dinner will be Corn Dog Castle (that's what I call Christmas dinner!) and the 27th will be Plaza Inn fried chicken.

I'm looking forward to seeing the tree as well! Your Christmas Superthread is what helped me decide on PPH. :thumbsup2 Have fun!

Thank you so much, Escape2Disney!

That PPH tree is very beautiful & colorful (Laurie/DizNee Luver can vouch for me on that one!)! I hope that sneaky Disney doesn't do something like suddenly change the decorations on the tree and make it look different this year, now that I've been telling people how pretty the warm, glowing blue-green lights are!:rotfl2: You may get there and find a totally different tree and wonder what the heck I was talking about!:rotfl2:

The GCH tree is stunning and elegant - a perfect tree for the setting and theme of that huge, dimly lit lobby/hearth area.

I do hope you enjoy the PPH. I'm glad the Superthread was of some influence and help! It's not an extravagant hotel, but it's cute - and if you end up with a park view it is great! The rooms have more floor space than the GCH rooms, I have found, but not as much floor space as the DLH rooms. I really think the only problem with the PPH is the fact that it is just not as big of a property as the DLH or the GCH. There is not much to the hotel itself (which is why it should be substantially less expensive than it is) - not many places to explore or discover. Other than that, it's fine - I don't even mind the fact that it's across the street from the main hub of activity. It's not far.

We will be there :yay: I am taking my niece the 12-18, and we will be staying at the Grand Californian!!!! I am finishing my last semester of college and this trip is helping me push through to the end. Can't wait to see all of the new decorations, a lot has changed since our trip just two years ago at the same time!
