Changing!

I am sure the DLR people are sick of me. My initial plan - which I booked last year in December - was a package through the Travel Company for the GCH. I cancelled that and changed to a reservation through Central (room only) for GCH. Then, I realized I could save $400+ dollars if I switched to PPH, so I did, and then, thanks to those handy dandy AP8 rates that are out, I made the switch today to the weekend earlier at the PPH and saved that extra $300. Now, the only way I could make it cheaper and still include my friends in the plan would be to cut off a night or two, but hopefully, I won't have to do that! If they were able to take off weekdays instead of only weekends, I would have us there then, and get an even cheaper AP8 rate, but I guess I can't expect miracles!!! $179 per night for the peak holiday season is a pretty good deal!:thumbsup2

I agree! Obviously, since that's the rate I got for one of our nights (149 the other). :)

Drat! I couldn't finagle a $149 rate for a weekend night, darn it! Is your $149 rate for a Monday night or Sunday night? But - and this is all speculation - it seems to me that the fact that there ARE still rooms available at any of the DLR hotels (especially the cheapest one), with discounts or without, would indicate that they are not going to be as busy this year as other holidays. There had been reports that all Disney hotel bookings were down everywhere, and that seems to be the case. I didn't expect to find a $179 rate still available at the PPH for an arrival of less than 3 weeks. That tells me that either not as many folks are going to DLR this holiday or they are all staying off-property!!! Maybe the parks will be more packed than we have ever seen, but the DLR hotels seem to have rooms available!

Sherry I am bummed that I will miss you by 2 days! But I am glad that you will be able to go and see santa and the tree and definitely your carolers will be out and about then as well. How fun for you! :)

I know! I thought of you, Krissy - I checked the list for who was going when, to see who would be there during my new dates, and I saw that you and I would just be missing each other!:sad2: I think TiggerNZ may be there during my time. You are right - this way, there is NO chance I will miss the carolers. Even though they were supposedly going to be there on the 26th-29th, just in case they decide to bail out early, they can't escape from me now!!:rotfl: I will find them! And I am glad to have the Santa photo opportunity now - even if we don't take any pictures with him, the PhotoPass people will be in the GCH lobby, so we can catch them and take some pictures by the tree. They definitely would have been gone by the 26th!

Then it just dawned on me that I haven't made any PS's yet! For some reason, I thought my orginal plan for the 26th was way far away and I hadn't sat down to think about dining plans again. Making the dining plans and PS's for the October trip took a lot of time and thought, but it worked well for us when we got there. Now that I have switched my plan to a week earlier, it is suddenly almost here!!! And I have NO PS's for the busy holiday time! I probably won't get the time slots I want, but I had better get crackin' and start making some kind of plans or else we will find ourselves standing for 45 minutes in the Carnation line again, like we did last year right before Christmas!!!:scared1:

We are going to be there the 3rd, 4th and the 5th. We were going to get bright and early and drive down the DL in the morning of the 3rd. DH is so excited and me too that we have decided to leave Tuesday night right after Work and drive down so we can be there first thing in the morning. I Can't wait. I am having withdrawls.....LOL:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Sounds like a great plan to get down there the night before!! I love already being down at DLR the night before, leisurely getting settled into the hotel and unpacked, taking care of anything that we need for the hotel room, and getting all of that out of the way, then waking up bright and early and starting the day without having to worry about hotel stuff. It can be a hassle when you check in in the morning, then go into the parks, then have to come back to get your stuff into your room and unpacked in the middle of the day, etc. I like to have it all out of the way the night before! Then, if we choose to come back to the hotel for a mid-day rest break, then that is what it is - a rest break, not a 'let's unpack the luggage and stock the fridge' break!

Yes I totally agree. I know we are going to hit traffic on our way to Disneyland but we can take our time and get there and just relax and be up and ready for the day. I can't way!!!!

I guess I would like it too but...if I were there the night before it'd drive me nuts not being in the park! I may have to try this "relaxing" first night thing sometime :goodvibes

I know what you mean. If I were to arrive at DLR maybe around 3:00 p.m. or so, and then got checked in, unpacked and it was still only 5:00 p.m. or so, I would definitely feel like should be in the park! In October when we arrived, we didn't get to the room and unpacked until probably almost 7:00 p.m., and then went to eat. So there was no time to get into DL at that point (they closed earlier that evening), but the next day I felt relieved that we had all the unpacking out of the way the night before and didn't have to deal with that on the mid-day rest beak.:goodvibes

just barely got my dates on points Dec 10-13th.. and this time were not telling the boys. were just going to get up like they are going to school and go lol...

You can remove my name from the December list. We aren't going. :(

My kids want to visit my mom in Colorado and see "real snow". Whaaaa! I'm afraid they may have lost that Disneyland lovin' feeling. This will be the first year in a long time we haven't done DLR during the holiday season.

I'll be cancelling our HoJo reservations, so if anyone wants a NQQ2 room for the Ent. rate Dec 16-20 let me know.

My wife and I will be there celebrating our honeymoon from the 6th to the 13th! S'almost time!!!!!!:cool1:

Is anyone interested in a meet-up during the first or second week of December? I would love to see some other Dis'ers when we are there! We will be there from Dec. 3-11th....staying at Hojo. My DS would love to meet with some other kids too. :) (It's a Mom/Son trip this time!) We're doing the Discover the Magic Tour on Dec. 5th (Walt's Birthday). Anybody else going? :santa:

I must stop by Home Depot and pick up some LGMHs ~ I'd love to meet some fellow DISer's during our visit! We'll be @ HoJo's as well but just our 1st and 2nd nites.

Wife and I will be in Southern CA 12/27 - 1/3. We're from Pennsylvania. Our 30th wedding anniversary on the 29th!!

Tickets for Rose Parade on 1/1.

We'll probably visit DL 12/28, 12/30, maybe 1/2. Advice?? Any days better/worse crowds during that high season week?? I know, probably equally crazy every day.

We've been to WDW many times but we haven't been to DL in 21 years.
