Who's Going in August and Where are you staying? :)

I casn't wait until August!! I am traveling with just my 8 year old daughter and my MIL. DH is staying home with my puppy!
We are going August 29-September 4
2 nights Grand Floridian 4 nights CBR

Me, wife, and two kids..girl 10, boy 15 will be staying at POR from Aug. 6th - 12th.....

Hoping for two things....its not too overly crowded at the parks ( too much to hope for during that time, I am sure ) and that it doesnt rain a lot or worse yet...hurricane....not sure when the hurricane season is there, but it seems pretty close.... :sad2:

I think hurricane season is August/ Sept, isn't it? We had a Disney cruise scheduled once in Sept, and then we had to reschedule last minute because my son started kindergarten in a different district than planned, and the starting day was earlier. It was wild because it would have been the week when all the hurricanes hit last year!
I asked about crowds in another thread while planning and I heard they can be somewhat heavy, but that the rain comes and goes. I'm not a Florida resident so I'm going by hearsay :goodvibes

Ya, I kinda figured it would rain a little here and there...which is ok...lived in Houston for a while and am used to the rain for 30 minutes in the middle of a otherwise sunny day scenerio...

Hurricanes are a whole different matter however and those can really mess up ones plans....I guess you just have to hope for the best...

I really expect pretty significant crowds...if we get anything less, fantastic...We really dont mind a lot of people, afterall it is Disney and thats part of the whole experience I think....Although I have read a lot of posts where people seem surprised that there are large crowds, almost to the point of anger sometimes....which seems strange to me...

I like to spend a considerable amount of time at the resort, so if there are large crowds, we usually go to the extra early opening that's happening (whichever park of the day) and then head back when the parks really start filling up. That seems to make it easy for us.

how busy last week of aug anyone know???

DiszyDean-We'll be stayng at POR Aug 6-13 too!! :teeth: Are you doing AB or Mansions? We'll be at AB. We've gone this week before and we've been able to manage the crowds just fine. I'm really not concerned about hurricanes,I'm more concerned about doing the parks w/our 2 yr old! We also have twin 9 dd's , so it'll be alot of fun!!
Mr. FDNY-we've gone the last week of Aug too and the crowds were *very* manageable. The only issue we ran into was Labor Day Weekend. That Sat of the weekend was the only day we actually left the park because it was *too* crowded.
Cheryl :cool1: :flower:

we will be at the Wilderness Lodge. I usually go the 3rd week of april which is crazy crowds, can i assume the same from Aug 12-17? we usually stay at a value resort though which are always croweded, im hoping it wont seem to bad at WL!

:wave2: We are scheduled for Aug 22 through the 28th in Fort Wilderness. We are deciding if we want to go early and enjopy or stay late and send the kids home on a plane without us.

Fort Wilderness here we come

Dona :wave2:

We are coming all the way from Ireland and staying for a month :cheer2: We arrive on 31st July have a private villa booked for the 1st 3 weeks but have one night "home" at Vero Beach then 21st - 26th August at OKW
