Amy,
I do remember your father at BHS. I'll bet Jefferson school system was tiny back then in comparison to what is going on now. I just read about Marge Giles retiring from teaching phys ed @ Butler on the classmates site. It is a small world!::yes::

Just revisited here and was thinking that it would be great to be eating some fresh, warm rolls from Lodi Bakery, Lodi along with some warm heavy crumb-cake from B&W Bakery, Hackensack.

Any other transplanted takers for these great food items?

Rules down here are that anyone coming down from up north or anyone going back north, must bring some of that crumb-cake down with them.

It's been over 20 years since we've had the rolls but the crumb-cake can be frozen for weeks and is still great when it is thawed.

John - funny you should mention the B & W bakery - I usually make a trip to NJ for just that - the Heavy Crumb - I take a trip up there when I visit with sis in Delaware. Good thing that she remembers that most bakeries in that area are closed on Mondays.

Mary

Just wondering if I am the only person who cuts around the big crumbs or do you know of some other crumb cutter-outer offenders?;)

John

I just LOVE their crumb cake. So does DS. I try to avoid it at all costs because I know I'll eat half of it.

Buy 2 so you can eat a whole one and not worry about others not having any.

My brother made a trip up to N.J. a couple of years ago and came back with 10 of them.

Had a BD celebration for our mom last year and my nephew who was stationed in DC drove to Hackensack to pick up 6 of them, 2 for the party and 1 for each of us kids.

Since he flew right out after picking them up we almost had same day baked cake.

They do freeze well! You could stock up and maybe make a run once a year.:rotfl:

I'm not worried about no one else getting any - I'm worried about all the pounds I would gain from eating it.:earseek:

Hi John-

If you live anywhere near WDW I can bring you a B & W crumb cake or 2 when we come to WDW. We'll be arriving at the VWL on October 30. Let me know. I'd be more than happy to do it. We live in Wyckoff.

Does anyone know if the quality of the crumb cakes at the Boardwalk Bakery compares at all with what you get in Jersey?

Tell me it isn't so, you mean there are calories in those heavy crumb cakes. I guess the tip off would be that it takes 2 people to carry in 1 tray of those things and the rebarb under the shelves the cakes sit on.

Alyson

WOW! Thanks for the offer. Maybe we could start an overground railroad of sorts for all the transplants down here. Someone comes down for a WDW stay and brings down some CC and then we can all meet and eat.

We are 150 miles from WDW but DD is much closer. Might just take you up on that.

Bobbi

Have seen them but never tried them. Will say that they are not as crumby though.

Born in Rochelle Park, grew up in Paramus, moved to Galloway Township, live in Absecon. Have traveled the GSP more times than I care to think about, still have family in Paramus and Wykoff.
Having lived both North and South, I can say that each end has it's pluses and minuses.

North Jersey Plus: NY City, Shopping Malls, White Castles!!!

North Jersey Minus: Traffic Congestion (Rt. 17 & Rt. 4), Shopping Malls, Newark Airport!!!

South Jersey Plus: Open Spaces, Shopping on Sunday, WaWa's, Atlantic City Airport!!!

South Jersey Minus: Philadelphia Sports Teams (We do like the city however), the last few traffic circles that no one can apparently drive, construction boom!!!

No matter what end of the state you are from all of us here share one very important thing in common... a strange and bizzare affection for Disney and DVC.

"DVC a uniter, not a divider"

P.S. - Paramus High Class of 87'... anyone else?

North Jersey Minus: Traffic Congestion (Rt. 17 & Rt. 4),
Ha! I deal with this nightmare every day on my way to work! It just gets worse as the years go bye!

NewJerseyDVCMembers - what Casino do you work in if you don't mind? We frequent Atlantic City quite often in Spring / Summer! Sometimes Winter LOL!

Well, nobody has mentioned Jersey City, so I'll stand up now. Born there, lived in Avenel (another one not mentioned yet!), then moved to South Jersey (but that's for another thread;) )

The first clue should be that it tastes good and you WANT to eat it.::yes::
